The subject matters of some of these poems or essays would not be of much interest to an American audience anyway."

Poetry can't be really translated. At the deepest level, we can only come to know verse written in a language we own.

I totally disagree on the other point you made, still: all true art is humane, this is what defines it.
It can be of absolute interest to any human, prospectively. It is an universal language, the language of human sensitivity, that knows no other barrier but insensitivity.

Never assume anything that is deeply felt, thus real art, may be surely uninteresting to somebody. For example, what could be presumed to be farther from me and my milieu than Manoel de Oliveira's cinema? Or Vargas Llosa literatute? Yet they are very dear to me. After all, the capability to tremble with emotion is common across the earth.my name is linknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4284893230469697578.post-49525494274801327342015-03-16T22:01:37.484+07:002015-03-16T22:01:37.484+07:00Yo Chuck,

Darwish is the only Arabic poet I'm familiar with.

At the same time, following is a reflection by Czeslaw Milosz, from the international anthology, "A Book of Luminous Things," kept on my bed lamp stand. He writes on topic of "TRAVEL," something you indulge a lot.

"In old Arabic poetry, love, song, blood, and travel appear as four basic desires of the human heart and the only effective means against our fear of death."

After careful reading of this incredible interview, I trust High Priests of American Literary scene will accord you with, at least, their minimum of respect, as outlined by Patriot Act/Neo-Geneva Conventions. (Note: The late- Hunter S. Thompson said something similar in correspondence with Republican, Pat Buchanan)

Thank you for LISTENING here, one day I hope to do so just 10% well as you.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07804858204655663574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4284893230469697578.post-21485743624055828552015-03-16T21:06:43.573+07:002015-03-16T21:06:43.573+07:00Hi x larry,

At bottom, though, is this issue of tribal allegiance, a very powerful force that affects everyone. When Jews had no land, many of them, as in Marx, dreamt of universal brotherhood where race wouldn't matter. Now that they finally have land, they're showing some of the ugliest aspects of tribalism, but these ugly traits, one must remember, are present in every tribe, though sometimes they lay dormant.

LinhLinh Dinhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00328959360983573810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4284893230469697578.post-68641639799460318692015-03-16T21:05:09.708+07:002015-03-16T21:05:09.708+07:00one more thing

I joked with the editor that he might save what's left of my literary career by rejecting it!

LinhLinh Dinhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00328959360983573810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4284893230469697578.post-35267280302775722442015-03-16T06:55:51.452+07:002015-03-16T06:55:51.452+07:00I'm glad he decided to publish your interview ...I'm glad he decided to publish your interview with him.
