These billboards are graphically compelling, but placed parallel to a freeway, they're more or less illegible to speeding motorists.

True-- but they are parallel to a major pedestrian walkway to Fenway Park; though maybe I'm being too generous. (Or again-- I-90 comes to a grinding halt in both directions at rush hour every day!)
I have never written to you before so if you happen to come across this wayward comment-- thank you for your essays (which I read through CP) which for me are simulataneously fertile and incisive, patient and outraged.
