Here's a thought: perhaps DeSantis is taking a strong stance against Covid orthodoxy to position himself for a presidential run in 2024. Between now and then, the USA (and much of the West) will still be devastated. DeSantis can declare himself as being right about Covid from the beginning, and be selected as an anti-Biden, just like Obama was groomed and slotted in as an anti-Bush.
Since American presidential elections have been rigged for a while, this next one will be fake also. If DeSantis ends up as president, we can be sure he's allowed to play his rebel role now, without changing the intended outcome of Covid.
Whatever the case, Florida, with its huge older Jewish population, can still enjoy DeSantis' deviation from Covid orthodoxy.
Disclosure: I haven't really watched DeSantis much (expat Floridian here), but IMO it's always just a show. Thus the spiritual world is perfectly just. In contrast to this, the physical world is rarely just--by design. It gives the divinity that we are the illusion of choice.
