At Unz Review, "Whoever" left a remarkable comment

to my Fort Indiantown Gap Postcard:

My mother helped care for Phan Thi Kim Phuc as well as many others at the Barsky Unit in Saigon when she was a volunteer with Children’s Medical Relief International, which she joined after her service as an Army nurse.

Here is a photo of Kim undergoing early treatment. Note that her left arm, which in the video she says she rubbed trying to get the napalm off, is completely swathed in bandages.

Here’s another photo after she has had some time to recover. You can see how terribly scarred her left arm is. The nurse is a Miss Hong. I don’t know who the boy is, but I have photos of his surgery, too. He was even more badly injured than Kim Phuc but no one took a famous picture of him so he just faded away into the anonymous crowd of war victims.

"they love us even when we bomb them"

this bad poet couldnt be more an american war crime apologist...

this is what really happened:
so the americans offered mrs kim fuck i mean phuc a suitcase full of dollars to switch sides, and threw in a book deal or two.

of course mrs fuck accepted the offer. south east asians arent really big on morality anyways, just look at thai lady-boys and hookers. of course she took the deal, but this bad poet wants to turn it into mrs fuck's dislike of communism. well, i call bullshit!

A cowardly armchair Communist spewing hatred and posting anonymously shouldn't be talking about morality. You are so pathetic, my man.

Fanatics always resort to ad hominem attacks. Having no facts or arguments, they fling mud.

There is no argument here, just baseless charges and the characterization of Southeast Asians as immoral, the mocking of Kim Phuc's name and calling me a bad poet.

There are 11 countries in Southeast Asia, and they're all immoral, according to this delirious moron, because of some Thai prostitutes.

Of course, posting as "anonymous," he has no name and no face. This sort of drive by shooting is typical of all cowards.

The commie freak just posted more ad hominem nonsense anonymously, so I deleted it and am going to switch off the ability to post anonymously.

From his prose and lack of capitalization, I know exactly who he is, too. He's Dan Trompeter, an American living in Brighton, England.

You're not welcome here, Dan.

Kim Phuc has a name and a history, and so do I, so I'm not going to allow you to spew anonymously. Go away, Dan!

Don't let the odd negative Ned get you down Linh. This is one of the best blogs on the internet. You eat more weird stuff than Anthony Bourdain, visit more places than Lonely Planet, and always let people speak in their own words. If you try to do something noteworthy people will always criticize you.

Thanks a lot, Bobster!

I'm interviewing a man who spent a decade working with the mentally ill, Alzheimer patients and the mentally handicapped.

It should be up soon.

I remember Thi Kim Phuc from when it happened. I hated what america was doing then. I hate what america is doing now.

I weep.

It's two days later, and I'm still sickened by the first comment, left by Dan Trompeter, posting as "anonymous."

What kind of a sick man makes fun of Kim Phuc's name, slanders all Southeast Asians and implies that Kim Phuc is a money whore?

Having written over 200 articles, I've encountered some sick comments, but Dan Trompeter's is the vilest I've seen.

To respond to photos of two gravely injured Vietnamese children by calling one a whore is as sick as you can get.

The quotation that begins it is no quotation, by the way, because he's not quoting anything written here.

I kicked Dan Trompeter off this blog nine months ago for, among other things, repeatedly threatening violence against me. I still have those emails.

I'm going to give you a public warning, Dan Trompeter. If you come on here to slander and spew hatred just one more time, I'm going to show readers how repulsive you really are.

My stepdad was John J Hayes. He was the administrator of the Barsky Unit from 1967-1970. We lived first in Singapore and then in (the former) Saigon (Ho Chi MinhCity).
