I'm staying in this alley, and that's my 14-month-old nephew, Suki. Much of the material for my Love Like Hate comes from my experience of living in this very alley 18 years ago, although the novel was written in Italy, England and the USA.

Of the 17 houses in this alley, two offer after school classes in math, science and English. Academic pressure on kids is too intense here. Every so often, there's a news story of a student committing suicide because of his or his parents' dissatisfaction over his grades.
