i'm sure it's got a very different feel, but if you told me this was from point breeze or sw philly or kensington, i'd believe you.
by the way, linh, any plans to visit some white farmers, and see for yourself what's going on out in the countryside? cheers,
dan

Yo Dan,

South Africa is more expensive than all the places I've been during my year and a half of Covid travel, and it's not as easy to get around as, say, in Albania, a much smaller and safer country, or South Korea, a much more efficient and totally safe country. Plus, I'm exhausted, man.

I wouldn't mind being in the UK, but it's pricey there, and I think a visitor is also required to be quarantined.

I still have ar least 2 1/2 weeks in Cape Town. I've got to figure out where to go next.

Here's a documentary about the situation with the white farmers.

There are farm stays advertised online, so those must be safe, obviously. The safety in rural areas must vary considerably from region to region, I imagine.

LD, I don't know much about Namibia, but it has a rep as being more stable than SA. I have stock in a company there, but I wouldn't own shit in SA especially after your intel!

Truth be told, when I pulled up the online map just now it called out Madagascar for you, but that's no doubt because it knows you're one crazy bastard!

Stay safe and be very well, wherever your heart leads you. And as always take care of your health, man!

I have looked into Madagascar, it is calling me, but its borders are closed, man.

Namibia is a possibility. All that land, with almost nobody living on it. There are some Germans left, and a few Chinese moving in. If there's a bus going there from Cape Town, that would be ideal.

Bummer about Madagascar for now, LD. I guess that means I'll have to forgo a pic of you covered in chameleons!

Yeah, Namibia is more my style--less people, more elephants. I know you are a city rat, but if we are honest, urban areas are generally unhealthy. Since you need to decompress, the wide open spaces might indeed do you well.

Peace, yo.
