im always so conflicted about lack of development in a very cliche way. on one hand, modernization and development are what destroy unique cultures, but on the other hand seeing all your pictures of cambodia in such rough shape is depressing and i assume the people are suffering from crushing poverty.
It's a general theme of the Author, dark alley, plastic stool, cheap beer etc. Showing the people he sees through the camera lens in their reality, poverty, grime, mis-matched clothes, make-shift existence, but this is a democracy after all. Recall Richard Nixon announcing the bombing campaign of Cambodia as "the Nixon Doctrine in it's purest form", six years after the bombing had started, with kissinger behind the curtain playing with his tiny .ick. All part of the "End of (the) America(n Empire).
