In a language like Vietnamese with tones distinguishing words with the same consonants and vowels, how do you sing songs? Like if the tone in the word goes higher, but the melody is going lower, is the word understood by implication and context?
To Vietnamese ears, the inflections on seemingly similar words mark them as completely different, so there's no confusion between má, mà, mã, mả, ma and mạ.
