COMMON-GROUND--Greys-Ferry

COMMON-GROUND--Greys-Ferry-2

Grays-Ferry-mural-model--Grays-Ferry

As I was photographing "COMMON GROUND," a mural across the street from St Gabriel, a rather magnificent church in long-depressed Grays Ferry, a woman drove by and said, "Hey, that's me on the wall!" And there she is, between M and M. In 1985, I spent 9 months in this traditionally Irish neighborhood. A friend and I rented a house for only $50 a month. As can be guessed from the ridiculous price, it was more shell than house. In 1992, Grays Ferry sadly made the news as the main source of teenaged boys for Uncle Eddie. For years, these kids had gone downtown to bring this pervert their soiled underwear, then squatted over a glass table so he could watch their digestion from below. They also crapped into his mouth for money.

What are the odds of that? That's not a coincidence, that's synchronicity.
