Hi, Linh. You're hitting all my sweet spots. ;)

I'm an accordian player. My folks got me one bc I wanted to play piano but they couldn't afford one of those.

The only bad thing about the accordian is at the recitals you have to look at the audience, unlike the piano kids who could stare at their keys.

I had a great teacher, Rena St. John. She was a tiny woman with an accent, who was married to a mean man who beat her son (my schoolmate) with a strap in front of me one time.

Hi Linda,

Though Pawel was very sweet, we only exchanged a few words. I didn't want to interrupt his playing. Plus, his English was a bit labored. I told him I had been to Zgorzelec and Luban and had crossed the length of Poland on a bus from Germany to Ukraine. I found Poles to be super friendly, I also said to him.

That's funny how you had to settle on an accordion though you wanted to play the piano!

In Leipzig, there were a couple of old guys who played accordions in the middle of town, and they were excellent too. You could hear each from quite far away.

Hi, Linh. Yeah, we eventually got a piano and I learned to play. The funny thing is, I don't have an "ear" for it. I need sheet music to play and can't just "wing" it. Oh, well. It's still fun sometimes to dink around.

Accordians are better, anyway. They're portable and can bellow a polka anywhere and cheer people up.
