LIFE-IS-LIKE-TENNIS--Riverside-NJ

Yo Linh,

Paraphrasing one of Don Rumsfeld's
distorted labels for people, and as a religious "backslider," I liked the photo & tennis-message on Church billboard admonishing value in "serving well."

How can Americans rise above all social & political madness while being at WAR with themselves, others, and as typical, against the very god they believe in?

Very bad news for everyone is that our 1%-er Controllers & lapdog politicians are "serving" 100 mph (+) BLACK tennis balls at us, juiced with Big-Media spin, our tennis racket strings are broken, and the score's 45 - no Love.

Also liked the corpulent lady working as school crossing-guard, & holding stop sign in your photo. The unabated-backhanded thrusts of Corporate/Government & even religious avarice must & will STOP some day.

Yo Chuck,

Though this town has seen much better days, it is still very pleasant, and the people extremely friendly. The woman pictured is actually a teen, maybe 16-years-old. She took her time pointing out points of interest to me. Another crossing guard nearly fell down laughing when I told her I thought her town pretty. She couldn't wipe off her grin as she talked to me.

Linh:

Your comment about "pretty" Riverdale NJ's extremely "friendly people" quite nullifies the 10" (inch)paint-brush negativity displayed in my comment, "Americans @ war with themselves, others, gods"

Regrettably my lens is DARKENED by work and what is experienced, such is lame-excuse for negativity, and I thank you for the Riverdale-lift.

Yo Chuck,

Though I only met a handful of people in Riverside that day, the mood on the streets was mellow, with kids being kids and not trying to act like gangstas. I walked all over town and didn't see graffiti, street litter or other signs of dereliction. Yes, there were quite a few shut down businesses and even some boarded up homes, but the place was generally tidy and dignified. Its large high school seemed well maintained, and in the afternoon, it was a hub of extracurricular activities, with football, band and cheerleading practices.

Riverside has large Portuguese and Brazilian populations, with many of them working in construction. Since many of the Brazilians are here illegally, this has caused tension...

Yo Linh,

I worked since late-1960s til now,
including RCA Victor, and immigration was not a problem until US officially entered global Free-Trade agreements, terminated en-masse decent paying manufacturing jobs, and currently, hapless factory workers who remain must either work for LESS pay, virtual non-or-watered down Union affiliation or else, and to boot, compete with immigrants who will.

One day in future, I can accompany you to Hazleton PA, an old anthracite coal-mining region who features two (2) large Industrial Parks and need for people to work warehouses for little wages. Hazleton PA has extremely tense immigration problems, a Republican Mayor, & murder almost every week. There are a lot of Hazleton old-timers in awe & who will no doubt point out things of interest to you.

(Note: Hazleton is famous for homemade kielbasa, and in order to fatten you up, I'll buy you a "ring" if you visit Scranton around Thanksgiving)
