Sunday, 11/13/11. Wanting to photograph Occupy Delaware, I walked all over downtown but couldn't find it.
Delaware has no usury law so many credit card companies operate from there. Downtown Wilmington is a bunch of half-skyscrapers housing these banks, block-size and multi-story parking garages, a handsome opera house, a gorgeous library and one lively street. On sundays, it is dead.
I crossed the river into Brandywine Village and walked past China King, Bally's Chinese and Fang Yuan. Outside Ho Ho Chinese takeout, a black man about ten years younger than me suddenly gave me a hug and shouted, "I'm your son! I'm your son!" He wanted 50 cents.
After I took the photo above, a guy around 25 told me he just got out of jail and was hungry, so could I give him some money? It was 5:52PM and already dark and the street was completely empty.
