Future will bring 'more hardship to average Americans'

Iran's Press TV, Feb 26:

Press-TV-on-2-9-12

Linh Dinh, journalist and writer, talks on America’s ‘missing foundations’ with Press TV’s U.S. Desk and says the “U.S. industrial base is missing and the factories are shut down.”

He said that U.S. companies are still making a lot of money but many U.S. workers are unemployed. He emphasized that a country like the U.S. cannot achieve an economic recovery without having a proper industrial foundation based on manufacturing.

“The U.S. is not really making anything besides weapons and images. Hollywood is still going strong, the music industry is going strong, but you cannot survive on generating illusions, which is what the U.S. is doing right now. It is making illusions and weapons.”

Politically, he said, the missing U.S. foundation is the two party system “which their policies are basically the same and the choices of changing the system through the electoral process is not available.” He said with the current system “it is impossible to change the system from within.”
