Watching the May Day march from inside Singer Financial Corp, the man had his middle finger up, but switched to a thumb up when he saw me getting my camera ready, then he just smiled. This is one of the toniest blocks in all of Philly. Across the street is a church with some amazing Samuel Yellin metalwork, and a few doors down is the Curtis Institute, where in 1989 or so, I saw a young Ignat Solzhenitsyn give a free piano recital.
