On the El from South Philly to Frankford yesterday, I saw a black kid no more than 4-years-old selling from a box of Welch's fruit snacks. A boy that young had no business being on the train by himself, period, much less peddling candies. One man gave him $1, thinking that's the price of a packet, but when another passenger said, "It's two bucks!", the man just let the boy keep the dollar. The kid himself said nothing. He got on at Girard and off at Berks, not to hit the street but to go to another car.
