I had a friend who worked not too far from there, think it was N 55th and Lancaster, just on the other side of the cemetery. It was the kind of neighborhood where other white people would tell me not to go there. Suburban myths about urban violence that I had already learned first-hand were entirely nonsense. I liked visiting my friend at his other job, a housing rental office, because his co-workers were really friendly and fun. And people were friendly on the street, would say "hi" back to me. Felt a little like being in the south, something i was a little homesick for at that time in my life. Loved going there in part because people would say hi back and smile. But that was 20 years ago and the damage from all the scammy real estate loans have messed up some things I imagine. Happy memories of 1993 revisited. I can see such wear and tear in your photograph. Thank you.
