Thanks for a $30 contribution from a repeat donor in County Antrim, Northern Ireland! I've sent him PDFs of my novel, Love Like Hate, and my 147-page, not-yet-published collection of new poems, A Mere Rica.

As a token of my appreciation, I'll send a Love Like Hate or an A Mere Rica PDF to any donor who gives at least $15. Just tell me which one you prefer. Here are the Amazon reviews of my novel on contemporary Vietnam.

Very poetic here, Linh. No matter how broken and poor, there's still an American flag tarpaulin that fits all sizes and circumstances.

That's Taylor, PA, by the way, less than a mile from Chuck's apartment.

Hi Linh,
We in Sacramento were wondering when we can see you doing commentary on RT or Press TV?-Need a LD fix!

Hi Anonymous,

I had to stop my Press TV commentaries since it was a lot of work for almost no money. As for Russia Today, they paid nothing for an appearance. These arrangements favor people who have a steady income or are backed by deep-pocketed think tanks, not someone like me.

With Press TV, they would call me at around 8:30AM with a new topic, and I had but half an hour to come up with a coherent statement. One day, it might be Myanmar, then a few days later, Somalia, then suddently, they'd ask for my response to something some congressman had said.

Even when I was publishing at Common Dreams and CounterPunch, I got paid nothing. It's no surprise, then, that nearly all of our political dissidents come from the upper middle class. The rest of us are too hounded by money pressure to say a whole lot. Take Chuck Orloski, a bus driver with a sick wife and two underemployed sons. It's a miracle he can even crank out a political essay or poem every now and then.

P.S. Without having to worry about Press TV, my Postcards have become more in-depth.
