I should say that in Vietnam, for example, those crutches would be gone within seconds. We will experience that level of destitution...

Sad part is that those very needed crutches probably wouldn't be stolen out of need and taken to a scrap yard... Mean-spirited hate would most likely guarantee that a block or so away they'd be smacked into a telephone pole or something and thrown in somebody's back yard. Every time I read of having a garden, I think of why we gave up. Our town isn't in any way large, but every time my wife would some tomatoes that were on the verge of picking time, I'd get up to go to work and find them splattered on the alley side of our back shed.

At first I'd thought our oldest son was joking when he told me that every home should have a copy of the "Zombie Survival Guide". When he pointed out some of the advice, I quit laughing.

Your pics always leave me wishing I could do more than spend a few minutes in prayer...

Hi Unknown,

I don't know the Zombie Survival Guide, but I'll google it to see if I can read an excerpt. Sounds intriguing.

that's depressing to read. Is there a comparable homeless population in Vietnam?

Hi Szwa,

There are enough homeless in Vietnam but you also have millions of very destitute people living in cramped quarters in miserable conditions. Their living arrangements would shock even American slum dwellers.
