The hip hop band Dalek is much more popular in Germany than the US (they're from North Jersey). They did an album with Faust, the legendary Kraut Rock Band.

Can't resist a Sparks lyric substitution here..

I am a Teutonic homeboy with a Teutonic 'ho right by my side
I am a Teutonic homeboy and I say yo dog to my pool cleaning guy
I hope I'm baggy enough for them
I play my Shaggy enough for them
I'll pop a cap up some fool at the Gap
'Cause I'm a Teutonic homeboy

I am a Teutonic homeboy with a Teutonic ho right by my side
I am a Teutonic homeboy and I say yo' dog to my detailing guy
I bought me cornrows on Amazon
I started listening to Farrakhan
My caddy and me he looks just like Jay-Z
And I'm a Teutonic homeboy

Yo Ian,

Samy Deluxe's Poesie Album was a #1 hit here. Lyrics:

If Bertolt doesn't get a plaque where he pukes, there's that English mistranslation on the lyrics page of 'Bis ihr alle Brecht wie Bertolt' for the time being

There's also a live version of Sparks' Metaphors online..

I've always thought metonymy works better, but maybe that's a West Coast thing, or maybe just the 'How, then, is metaphor degeneration' line gets 'add this to rhetoric'

Yo Ian,

It's a good translation, man! Dude has it as "until you throw up like Bertolt."

"Brechen" means to throw up.

oh it says "Bis ihr alle Brecht wie Bertolt." I presume I'm missing some good Mayakovsky puns in translation as wells as Brechten's own
