KALININGRAD KARGO SERVIS--Istanbul

Kumkapi. Before Turkey shot down that Russian plane, there were many Russian tourists in Turkey, many Turks working in Russia and lots of trade between the two countries.

Thank you for this great series of pictures and also the ex-pat who wrote about his family life in Turkey. Combined, they expanded my limited "Midnight Express" perception of the country which is so central to US and NATO Empire (Middle East) designs.

Hard to imagine how much money and head-cracking it took to keep Turkey in the west's claw.

I had no idea that that many Russians presently live in Turkey, and I am wondering if the CIA used Turks to help stir up trouble in the former Soviet Central Asian (Islamic) republics. Since the shooting down of the Russian fighter jet, I thought all hell would have broken loose by now, Linh, and I am glad you're back safe in anguished Germany.

Ah, madness, more madness! Thank you once again for the education, I look forward to Istanbul Postcard.

Yo Chuck,

Russians came as tourists. I don't think too many settle there. There are Russian and Ukrainian prostitutes. There are also African prostitutes.

You see Russian cyrillic on many shop signs, especially in the Kumkapi section.

I'm very sorry to hear about Carol's deteriorating health, Chuck. I can only hope that you and the boys are staying strong through all of this.
