On my last day, I met a Vietnamese woman who had been in Ukraine 20 years, and her husband 30 years. Before everything went downhill 2 years ago, they were close to buying their first house, but now they're just hanging on, with her having a lunch stand, and him selling used clothes. They have three kids, one in college, and the lady was proud to tell me they all speak Vietnamese well. She was selling this Ukrainian roll with cheese and a Vietnamese meat filling with bits of carrot. Seemingly very popular, it cost 74 cents.
