Léo Jarzabek and I have been working on some songs together,

so at 3PM tomorrow (Wednesday) [it was earlier stated as 2PM, but Léo just emailed me to say he had to finish his laundry!], Léo will perform a set while standing in front of Leipzig's opera house (Gewandhaus zu Leipzig) on Augustusplatz.

Since Napoleon failed to capture Leipzig in 1813, it's up to Léo (a real Frenchman) to do it tomorrow.

Though obviously no rock n' roll guy, I tried to impress Léo by digging up an old photo of me and French punk legend Tai-Luc, taken in Paris in March of 2008. Léo said, "Hey, La Souris Déglinguée is my dad's favorite band!"

Hey Linh, I didn't know you wrote songs. Or maybe you always have kinda? The thing that Robert Frost wrote, "the aim was song" or something?

Anyway, that's really cool. I play a lot and always thought I could ask to use someone's poetry to bolt it onto the music, if they felt like it worked. I play, and someone else would sing, because I can't do that since the guitar takes all my attention. I think I'm better at playing then speaking or writing, since each of those has a history of disaster. Can't wait to listen!

Hi jac.bane.sr,

Leo is a 21-year-old student here in Leipzig, and I met him after a public talk I gave. We became friends. Leo said he played guitar and wanted to write songs, but had a hard time coming up with lyrics, so I sent him a few poems, but we both realized all but one didn't quite work as songs. That's when I started to write proper songs. As we knew we were leaving Leipzig soon, we decided to mount some kind of a performance before we were out of here.
