I used to repair cash registers in the eighties. I've seen a lot of bars and lounges in that state. Often I was away from home as a technician in remote towns so an overnighter in one that had a room was common. It always struck me how lifeless and cold these places are without people. The contrast to when it was rocking and I'd be enjoying my time off was stark. It is the human spirit which makes such things and the trappings have less to do with it. It can happen round a fire in the bush, by a river with just trees and a DJ. or less.
