Compare to nearly any foto of people out and about in the early 1900s: back then, they looked like they were wearing their 'Sunday best', even when it wasn't Sunday.
For some reason, it especially saddens me to see so many women -- the caring sex -- totally detached from their surroundings: headphones on, eyes down/fixated on that goddamn phone -- it's so much more difficult to make eye contact today...
