Sounds of the drum, gong and cymbals attract kids, and adults carrying kids, to the dragon dance, and I carried my nephew a couple of blocks to make sure he didn't miss any of the action. During Tet, many businesses and houses hire these dance troupes to chase away bad luck, bring good luck.
