The South East Asian “Living room” is always quite a contrast to the western version. Lifestyle, social habits, and weather are factors.

Hi Biff,

With the altar to recently dead ancestors, most Vietnamese living rooms have a funereal undertone.
Instead of "living," they should be called recently dead rooms.

The area of the house that's called "living room" in the western sense is actually called "guest room" by Vietnamese because the area is reserved for the entertaining of guests even though practically it can be used for any purposes, like the "living room," including the worshipping of ancestors.
