Most Americans are snared in false dichotomies, Republicans vs. Democrats, "democracry" vs. communism (or socialism) and, now, social justice vs. "fascism."
The US has long abandoned any idealism. In WWII, it sided with Stalin, then abandoned its own soldiers and other citizens in Stalin's gulags. That's how cynical Uncle Sam supported the troops!
During the Vietnam War, it supposedly fought Communism, then struck a deal with Communist China to move much of its manufacturing to that Communist country. To contain Communist Vietnam, it backed Pol Pot. To subvert Soviet Russia, it trained Muslim fanatics, then fought Muslims after 9/11, a false flag that had nothing to do with Muslims. Without democracy at home, it now backs fascistic Ukraine in the name of democracy. There are so many other contradictions, but you get the idea.

the empire is a fully hypocritical monster let loose upon the world and is beyond insane at this point. i have little or no hope for any savior on a white horse to arrive. its been like this, depending on how you identify its beginnings which in some ways could easily be said to begin in the early sixteen hundreds. no 'war' has it ever been on the right side with the possible exception of ww2 but even that can be traced to the first war which germany didn't start but it was the brits, just for starters. notable highlights are the indian 'wars', the spanish war as well as everything since ww2 all of which we've been responsible for. your beginnings in vietnam are one easy example of full tilt aggression by the empire and now in the ukraine, which we can easily lay at victoria nuland's feet we hear there will be depleted uranium which is one more crime to be our creation. we can only hope some greater power puts a stop to all this madness asap.
