Pho Saigon is owned by a Chinese family. Having spent several years in Saigon, man shown here speaks Vietnamese perfectly. This joint gets a lot of business from Vietnamese tour buses, on their way to Laos. It's also popular among local big shots. Last time I was here, the guy at the next table was the director of Stung Treng Referral Hospital.
In the glass case, they also sell perfumes, toothpaste, tea, tea sets, thermo bottles or even a peacock themed clock, etc. Whatever they feel like displaying.
I've moved into a new hotel, Ly Heng. The owner is a cop who was trained in Vietnam, so he, too, speaks Vietnamese, though haltingly.
The Khmer Rouge wrecked so many professions, society had to be rebuilt.
In a few days, I'll probably go to Pho Saigon to catch a Vietnamese bus for Pakse.
