Every dish changes in alien enviroments, so a cheesesteak in Wilmington, Delaware is not what you'd find in Philadelphia, not that many miles away. In Japan, there's a category of food called Yoshoku. These are Japanized Western dishes, often radically modified. Check out ankake spaghetti, for example.
Above is an item at Amor Fati in Pakse. It's a $3.18 plate of spaghetti with shrimp tempuras, shrimp eggs and seaweed in a very wet yet not so creamy sauce. Orientals aren't raised on dairy products. Everything but the sauce is pretty good, and the spaghetti is al dente, so I will probably have it again.
