Pittston, population 7,680, has a sweet, tranquil downtown with many small businesses. This girl is a 4th grader who likes to read. She said she had finished two Harry Potter books.
Poets can be batty. Chuck actually asked to borrow her bike, then rode it around like a little kid.
On the next bench sat an old guy in a military cap. When Chuck and I tried to talk to him, he said, "I can't hear too well."
I noticed most of the pinna on his left ear was missing. Perhaps it has been chomped off during a distant bar fight...
Judging by the names on stores and murals depicting Mona Lisa and a tomato festival, it's clear many Italians live here.

Refreshing to see a young person enjoy reading books (hopefully the traditional, hard copy kind, not an e-version) and riding bikes rather than staring at her smartphone.
