Geylang, my favorite part of Singapore. It reminds me of Cholon, though Saigon's neighborhood is funkier. If you want a taste of an older, less cleaned-up Asia, read Gontran De Poncins' amazing 1957 book, From a Chinese City.

Hi bhikshuni,
It was weird to be that close to Vietnam and not going there. The heat and Tiger beer certainly made me think of Saigon.
