"HERO CITY AGAINST THE CAPITAL!" Hero City, Heldenstadt, refers to Leipzig's demonstrations against Communism in 1989. It's also an ironic reference to the Soviet designation. Leningrad, Odessa, Sevastopol and Stalingrad were all declared Hero Cities for their resistance to Nazi Germany.
