The writing on this headstone is not just crudely etched, but written, for it is missing many accent marks. A curiosity of many Vietnamese graves is that it is announced, at the very top, as "PHẦN MỘ," or "GRAVE PORTION," as if this is your ration in death.
On this headstone, it's stated that the deceased was 66 years old and a native of Hà Tĩnh, way up North and notoriously impoverished. At the bottom, those who have set up the grave typically announce themselves, so here, it's stated, "[YOUR] WIFE AND CHILDREN JOINTLY SET UP [THIS] GRAVE."

Henri Rousseau's grave is handwritten by Apollinaire

and Apollinaire's own grave has a handwritten look.
