The latest in my search for cheap yet edible spaghetti in Vietnam. Here are two ghastly failures. This combo at Lotteria cost just $1.68, but the soft drink was small and mostly ice. The spaghetti with a sweetish sauce was OK, and the beef patty was agreeably seasoned. Lotteria is a Japanese chain, so this is another example of Orientals serving whiteness to other Orientals. Pizza Company from Thailand is another case.
The best spaghetti I've had in Vietnam was at 4P's, and that cost around $7.

Can you not buy spaghetti or some kind of acceptable noodle substitute and tomato/pasta sauce at a food store? -- if not where you live, maybe in Saigon? -- and bring some back with you?
Hi eahilf,
Saigon supermarkets do sell spaghetti and spaghetti sauces. When in Saigon, I'm outside nearly all day, either with my 2-year-old nephew or alone, so I write, read and eat in public. In Ea Kly, I don't have my own kitchen, so can't cook anything beyond instant noodles.
