Congratulations!

Your stories based on your conversations with the regular, everyday, people you meet on your walks are among your best work.

The thoughts and experiences of the egg sandwich seller, who would have been getting over a $400/month pension if he had stuck it out after his start as a 1980's, low-paid, fish-begging, beach bicycle cop was as entertaining as it was interesting. Because of your humor, your rant-free writings are flat-out fun to read.

Maybe, when you get your next egg sandwich you can take the vendor's picture and post it here so we can see what he looks like.

Question: What were Soviet, old-chicken-chasing, low-paid workers doing in that Vietnamese beach town back in the 80's?

Hi Martin,

Vung Tau is a key city for Vietnam's oil and natural gas industries, so I'm assunming the Soviet guys were here for those. Many Russians are still in Vung Tau.

Yeah, I'll try to take a photo of the egg sandwich guy...
