These women seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves while they work. But I have been taught all my life in the USA that people in communist societies are invariably sad. Also, it appears that everybody and his granny is engaged in some kind of small-scale capitalism. How is this possible in a "communist" country?

Pham Quynh was a collaborator of the French colonists and he kissed their ass hard. He criticized his own people for "laughing" because he identified with his masters and looked down on his own people.
