Hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, fried chicken, "samwich" and sushi sold to school children for breakfast. Most Vietnamese have a pretty substantial first meal, so they would start their day with a bowl of pho or Phnom Penh noodles, or a plate of broken rice with pork chop, etc. When I was a schoolkid in Saigon half a century ago, we didn't eat burgers, fried chicken or sushi for breakfast, but more modest traditional fares, such as bột chiên [fried rice-flour cakes] or gỏi đu đủ khô bò [raw papaya with beef jerky]. A fancy version of bột chiên includes one fried egg.
