The area you have been frequenting,
New Farm, Fortitude Valley,
Are not typical of Brisbane, they have
Long been places of oddness.
Fortitude Valley, "the Valley" was a
Thriving business, commercial, imdustrial
Area with a brewery, major newspaper
Publishing, shopping emporiums etc.
New Farm was cheap housing mixed with
Wealth, from there all along the river
To Newstead was the main shipping port
With large warehouses and marine industries.
I remember all that from my youth, and the
Beauty as well, which is still to be found
Not far away.
Certainly, I recognise my home town, also
Recognise unstopable change, the last time
In Brisbane for just five days, six months
Before the crimes of kovid, a pie n' peas
Was $3.aud. at a small suburban bakery.
Cheers.
