Altar in Chinese house on 1-13-25--Chau Doc 2 copy

If the lady didn't tell me, I wouldn't have guessed this was a Chinese household. Their altar looks very Vietnamese. The word Chinese is rather vague since there are Cantonese, Fujianese, Hakka and Hainanese, etc. She has relatives in Phnom Penh so has been there a few times.

Hi Ankakh, the educated all knew Chinese, and there was also a native script called Chữ Nôm. The greatest Vietnamese poem was published by Nguyễn Du in Chữ Nôm in 1812.--Linh
