Di Nic’s in Deep South Philly

As published at SubStack, 5/4/24:

[Di Nic’s in South Philly, 3/22/15]

The way we were:

3/22/15, with elaborations in 2024—I came in hoping to see Johnny, the gangster and meth dealer who had been locked up for 29 years. Three weeks earlier, I had said, “Are you Polish?”

Glaring, Johnny seethed, “I ought to kill you!”

Johnny is Sicilian. He has enlarged nuts plus other medical problems. Johnny admires the Irish, “They can outdrink you, outfuck you, outfight you. I wouldn’t fuck with the Irish.”

Today, I met another Johnny. This one’s 67 and sleeps on the living room floor for free at this lady’s house. They hadn’t known each other before.

Is it just pity? What is she getting out of it? If she doesn’t have to feed and clean after Johnny, she’s not losing anything but privacy. Maybe she’s had too much of it. Countless lives are filled with meaningless privacy. In her underwear or naked, she again watches TV alone on her flabby sofa. Its springs she can feel with her bony ass. If her sofa or ass had lungs, it would sigh along with her.

To not get in her way, Johnny sits in Di Nic’s as much as possible. I bought him beer. After the second mug, Patty the bartender yelled at me.

“Can you believe she fuckin’ yelled at me for buying you beer?”

“I wouldn’t worry about it. She’s just acting like a woman. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. My wife was like that.”

Johnny gets $500 a month in social securities. His divorce left him broke. For 30 years, Johnny worked for the phone company. He climbed poles. He was also a caddy, plus this and that.

Patty had two other reasons to be pissed off at me. As she was getting my beer, the cooler door fell on her toes and cracked a nail. It hurt so bad, she was sobbing and, frankly, most people would have gone home, if not sued the bar owner. Patty worked through it because she couldn’t afford to lose the day’s income. As she hobbled back and forth, her right sock turned red from the blood.

Hours later, she finally dabbed some vodka onto her messed up toes and changed socks. A customer had gone home to get some gauze. He had also bought for her three pairs of socks.

When some broad showed excessive concern for Patty’s toes, she snapped, “I’m tougher than you’ll ever be.” Indignant, the broad stormed out, but she’ll be back soon enough, I’m sure.

Lastly, Patty got angry because a customer had played some Sun Ra for me.

“What is this shit?!”

"Sun Ra. We were talking about Sun Ra, so I played some for him.”

Patty shot me murderous eyes. At Di Nic’s, they prefer Billie Joel, Elton John, Jim Croce, Sisters Sledge, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Beatles, Rolling Stones and Cat Stevens, etc.

Among Philadelphians, Sun Ra was even weirder than Father Divine. An alien from Saturn, Sun Ra led the Arkestra. His musicians lived in three houses in Strawberry Mansion. That’s also Coltrane’s neighborhood. I caught just one Arkestra concert, a few years before Sun Ra evaporated from this cosmos.

The man who played Sun Ra for me had a son at Evergreen College. He was delighted I had even heard of the Olympia, Washington college. His kid wanted to become a writer. I told him I had given a poetry reading there, and had twice been featured on its radio station. Evergreen’s most famous alumnus is Rachel Corrie. After she was crushed by an Israeli bulldozer, the US did nothing.

Born in Port Richmond, Patty pretends she’s a Kensington bitch. With its nodding zombies, skanky whores, gun and knife homicides and overdose galore, Kenzo is edgier. With her frizzy hair, tired eyes, dangling cigarette and solid, no nonsense boobies, Patty appears tough yet sexy enough.

Catching me sneaking a shot, Patty commanded, “Take a picture of my ass, and make sure it looks good.” Starvation, trauma, boredom, skin tint or just a clogged sacral chakra, so much goes into how you perceive eyes, lips, sibilants and butt cheeks, with or without jeans. Staring in the mirror, she fixed her bra and said to no one in particular, “I’ve got to make sure my nipples are lined up.”

Jews moved out of South Philly decades ago, then the better off Italians. To replace them, Mexicans, Chinese, Indonesians, Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laos now live in tight rowhouses that were austere enough when new. With their old ways, each wave of immigrants cheers up sidewalks. Sick of suburbs, yuppies and trust funded hipsters have also surged back. In boulangers and wine bars, they lounge along Passyunk below Dickinson.

Stepping outside, I could see the Melrose Diner. Around since 1956, its menu has evolved, so along old timey classics like corned beef hash, creamed chipped beef, Reuben sandwich and butter cream cake, there are stir fried chicken over rice, chicken quesadilla, lamb gyro and frappucino.

Chrome on diners pointed to a future with flying cars, robotic maids and three-day work week. At Melrose, its charming sign with a clock on a coffee cup belongs to that hopeful past.

In 1638, John Wilkins already imagined that, within his lifetime, man could explore space in a winged chariot. Such long distance travel without access to earthly food wouldn’t be a problem. Free from gravity, man wouldn’t need to eat. On the moon, earthlings would likely discover inhabitants. “How happy shall they be,” Wilkins said of the first to reach the moon.

If there’s YouTube in heaven, Wilkins must check out that Apollo 11 Post Flight Press Conference. Triumphantly returned to earth, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were oddly morose.

Falling far short of Saturn, they had reasons to feel like losers, if not phonies. Sun Ra kicks ass.

A sample chapter:

Happy Days Are Here Again!

3/6/10, with elaborations in 2024--The word recession, meaning a temporary dip in economic activity, was coined in 1929 at the start of the Great Depression, so even then, we were kidding ourselves. After months of babbling about “green shoots” in 2010, the always jiving press started to use “Great Recession,” but why not Great Recess, as in a fun pause in labor so we can all run outside and frolic? With the outdoors so healing, those who can never go inside must be especially blessed.

In November of 1929, a month after the stock market crash, Lou Levin recorded, “Happy days are here again.” Though homelessness had already been widespread, the Great Depression spawned Hoovervilles in all cities. The starving had to dwell in shanty towns near soup kitchens. If these wretches had access to a radio, they could hear Jack Yellen’s wonderful lyrics:

So long sad times Go long bad times We are rid of you at last Howdy gay times Cloudy gray times You are now a thing of the past Happy days are here again The skies above are clear again So let's sing a song of cheer again Happy days are here again All together shout it now There's no one Who can doubt it now So let's tell the world about it now Happy days are here again Your cares and troubles are gone There'll be no more from now on From now on Happy days are here again The skies above are clear again So let's sing a song of cheer again Happy times, happy nights Happy days are here again

Germans suffered even worse, but they, too, could enjoy the same song as performed by Die Comedian Harmonists. Why the English name? The original lyrics would have been too much like spitting on a half dead man, so this Charles Amberg’s version, as translated by “Swiss Reader”:

Weekend and sunshine Do you need more to be happy? Weekend and sunshine And then with you in the woods alone I need nothing more to be happy Above us,the skylarks sing Just like us, a song All the little birds cheerfully tune in Weekend and sunshine No car and no avenue And nobody near us Deep in the woods, just me and you The lord turns a blind eye Since HE bestowed upon us, for our happiness, Weekend and sunshine Six days of work, but on the seventh Thou shalt rest, spoke the Lord, But we have something to do on the seventh, too.

Swiss Reader adds, “My father (born 1915) told me they would sing in Berlin backyards, and people would throw money out the windows for them. This was the Depression years, as depicted in Alfred Döblin’s Berlin Alexanderplatz. Döblin was a doctor for the poorest, that’s where he got his stories. After reading that book, I said to my father, ‘I had no idea life was so tough then.’ He summed the book up perfectly, “Yes, all of the men were criminals and all of the women were whores.”

On the Garry Moore Show in 1962, Barbra Streisand appeared as a 1929 millionaire who had lost everything. Clutching a mink stole to her bosom, Streisand was still served. Whatever reluctance the waiter had was dispelled when Streisand offered a four-carat diamond earring for a glass of champaigne. Her flirtatiousness didn’t hurt. She shot him leers and even clutched his hand Ending up draining an entire bottle, Streisand would be stripped of her other earring, two bracelets and even stole. Giving it up, she leaned into the suddenly flushed young man. After stroking the bottle’s neck, Streisand ended up cradling the bottle. Should have used a condom.

Among the updated lyrics were “happy landing!” belted out as only Barbra could. She’s the queen of overblown emotions.

Eight months after the 2008 stock market collapse, the New York Times launched “Happy Days,” a series of mostly palliative, feel good articles. As Twain was supposed to have said, “The past does not repeat itself, but it rhymes.”

Happy Days was also a popular TV sitcom, of course. Airing from 1974 to 1984, it featured a lovable, corny cast of working class Americans from the 1950’s, with its most popular character a slick haired mechanic and biker, Arthur Fonzarelli. When times were good, even a high school drop out could constantly flash thumbs up and co-own a diner.

Arriving in the US in 1975, I, like everybody else, watched Happy Days religiously. How their characters reacted shaped my understanding of the USA. So cheerful, lighthearted and casually cool, they only had to say something vaguely funny to crack up the entire world. Life, though, has no laugh tracks. Staring at our 20 inch black and white in that dark room with old carpet, life appeared promising. The K-Mart clothing I’d outgrow, not my bad teeth.

Today, Fonzie would be lucky to work as a Wal-Mart sales associate. He’d have to swap his leather jacket for a polyester vest with a “Fonzie” name tag. America's most enduring icons, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, all came out of the 50's, a decade of peak American confidence and prosperity. There were many factors, but what’s often overlooked is America’s status as the world’s biggest oil producer. A huge chunk of her wealth was a godsend. All Americans were Beverly Hillbillies.

FDR’s campaign song was “Happy Days Are Here Again,” of course. To those not familiar with this crippled dude, he existed after Jesus’ death and before Jesus Christ Superstar, so he never strangled George Floyd nor dated Taylor Swift. In his most famous speech, FDR said:

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

[…]

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

Nothing was said about the US cutting off Japan’s oil supply, nor FDR’s foreknowledge of this “surprise” attack, but who cares, especially now that Taylor Swift has released Speak Now?

After another Pearl Harbor, George Bush declared:

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America -- with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

[…]

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Launching endless war, Bush spoke of America’s resolve for peace!

Starved of oil, nations regress to the Stone Age, so Japan had to attack. Similarly, China’s incursions into the South China Sea, Myanmar, Pakistan and Laos are efforts to bypass dependence on the Strait of Malacca, still controlled by the USA. Chinese majority Singapore may flip its allegiance during the next war.

The oil age started in Pennsylvania in 1859, with the first significant well named “Empire,” appropriately enough. Fuel and engine of the American Century, oil has allowed us to build an unprecedentedly wasteful and alienating environment, where citizens are conditioned to spend hours trapped in a steel box and liking it. The car, not the eagle or cracked bell, is the symbol of American freedom. Its erratic, stop and start speed is a metaphor for inevitable progress. What happens when dubious joyride runs out of fuel, gas tank by gas tank? That we’re wringing oil from rocks should tell you everything.

Just look around you. I live in Philadelphia, a broke metropolis gutted of almost all industries, like nearly all our towns and cities. Inside subway concourses and around City Hall, the homeless sleep on concrete or cardboard, their possessions in a beat up suitcase or trash bag. They line up for food outside the Main Library. Every so often, bored and angry youths rampage through The Gallery, our downtown shopping mall. They fight security guards, sending some to the hospital. Roaming sidewalks, they knock down random strangers. Just this week, more than a hundred students, organizing through Facebook, staged a mini riot inside Macy’s. One was hospitalized after being kicked in the head. Fifteen were arrested.

Across the river is Camden, once home to Campbell Soup, RCA Victors and the biggest shipyard in the world, employing 40,000 workers. Last year, Camden was rated the most dangerous American city. Etched onto City Hall is a Walt Whitman line, “IN A DREAM, I SEE A CITY INVINCIBLE.” Beneath it are two boarded up windows. Whitman spent 19 years in Camden and is buried there, but the house of America’s greatest poet is only open to visitors by appointment. It’s a safe bet most Camden residents have never heard of any poet who isn’t a homicidal rapper with bling and ho’s! Who’s Langston Hughes?!

Few enter Camden. Its center is mostly deserted. On its main drag, cops, gangstas, whores and zombies strut past Chinese and fried chicken joints with bulletproof plexiglass. Just outside downtown is a tent city where +100 dwell during summer. During winter, it’s down to 50. There are many couples, but kids aren’t allowed. Black, white and Hispanic, the youngest is 20, the oldest, 76. They share one stinking honey bucket and and two shower stalls. There’s no running water or electricity. Heat comes from burning wood or cans of Sterno, the jellied alcohol normally used on buffet tables. It’s not the Stone Age, but the 21st century in the greatest country ever!

Meet Tina, who’s lived in the tent city, off and on, for over a year, since she was 20. Though her mom is around, they don’t get along. Tina claimed she was Miss New Jersey for 2005 and only skipped the national pageant because of “personal problems.” A google check showed she lied. “Wolfman” made $3,000 a week laying tiles and had a house. His six-year-old son now lives with grandma. Jay, 27, squandered his inheritance on drugs. Casper was a dock worker and septic-tank technician. After months in a freezing tent with his deaf girlfriend, Casper has found work and an apartment, so they’ve moved on. James, 56, joined the air force then became a defense contractor, fixing tanks and other heavy equipment. He also drove a gypsy cab and “was in the escort business,” he grinned. Hooked on crack, this personable pimp was jailed when he tried to rob a bank without a weapon, just a note demanding 400 bucks.

“Why 400?”

“That was all I needed. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

At the tent city, James was the most literate, with boxes of spy, thriller, crime and spiritual books, plus Terry McMillan and Great American Folklore. After over a year in a tent, he was hired again as a defense contractor, so has been shipped overseas. With 761 bases in 151 countries, that segment of the American economy is still thriving.

An hour from Philly is Bethlehem, home of Bethlehem Steel, now a hulking ruins visible from miles away. The second largest steel producer in the U.S., it was responsible for the Golden Gate Bridge and nearly all of New York’s skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building, which was conceived during the roaring twenties—think irrational exuberance—and erected during the Great Depression.

The skyscraper is the most naked symbol of money-generated power, and of nationalistic hubris. Consider Pyongyang’s Ryugyong Hotel, still unfinished after 23 years, or the 160-story Burj Khalifa in Dubai, a suddenly bankrupt kingdom. Recall the Tower of Babel, but that was our first attempt at globalism!

In Bethlehem recently to photograph, I was hassled by a Sands Casino security guard. “But I’m on a public street,” I protested.

“You’re photographing Sands’ property.”

“That’s Bethlehem Steel, man. That’s American history!” I stared at this guy incredulously. Like I said, you could see the old factory from at least a mile away. “Are you from Bethlehem?”

“I was born here. My grandfather worked in that steel plant.”

“You were born here and you’re stopping me from photographing Bethlehem Steel?! You know how funny you’re sounding right now?”

“It’s not Bethlehem Steel anymore. It belongs to Sands.”

“Man,” I shook my head and pointed at the sky, “your granddaddy is probably laughing at you right now.”

Citing the Patriot Act, he demanded to see my camera’s images, but I refused to show them. As I turned to walk away, he stopped me under threat of arrest. After more absurd back and forth, he finally let me go as told, through a walkie talkie, by a superior.

Done with making stuff, we sell each other services. I’ll cut your hair, you’ll cut mine. We swap “vintage” furniture and clothing. With a tolerable face and flesh still firm, many lap dance.

During the Great Depression, a desert dump unsuitable for agriculture, industry and large-scaled habitation became a boomtown. Now, there are mini Vegases across America. In Kansas, I even saw a casino in an old church. As for lotteries, Pennsylvania alone pushes the Daily Number, Big 4, Cash 5, Quinto, Treasure Hunt, Mix & Match, Mega Millions, Super 7 and Power Ball. Our biggest casino, though, is Wall Street.

After being dazzled by color lights, whistles, toylike clanks, cartoon figures and some tits and ass, you wake up hungover and broke. To lessen your self pity and recrimination, you can hear for free on YouTube Barbra’s invigorating voice, “Happy days are here again!” If you’re under a bridge with no access to wifi, you only have yourself to blame, loser!

Seeing a septuagenarian lying half dead on the sidewalk, many will insist he must be a drunk, drug addict, lazy, improvident or a criminal.

With chemtrails crisscrossing the heavens, they’ll never be clear again, but no one cares what color the sky is. Conditioned to stare at cellphones nonstop, necks can no longer tilt up. Most don’t even know the color of their bedroom walls.

Methodically led into the Mother of All Depressions, we’re armed with only the “audacity of hope,” so let’s hear from Obama, America’s greatest president among progressives:

I’m not talking about blind optimism here — the almost willful ignorance that thinks unemployment will go away if we just don't talk about it, or the health care crisis will solve itself if we just ignore it. That’s not what I'm talking about, I’m talking about something more substantial. It's the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs; the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores; the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta; the hope of a millworker’s son who dares to defy the odds; the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too. Hope in the face of difficulty. Hope in the face of uncertainty. The audacity of hope.

Wochenend und Sonnenschein! What more do we need? Much more, actually, even as semi beasts cowering in bunkers, caves or half collapsed parking garages. No bicycles, boulevards or old fashioned bums, just me and you, to see who will eat.

Another Chapter from Shrinking Oases of Useless Eaters

As published at SubStack, 2/27/24:

[Budapest, 2/4/16]

Hungarian Lessons

2/6/16, with substantial elaborations on 2/27/24--I was surprised by how grimy and sooty Budapest was. So many of its buildings, once gorgeous, have badly decayed. This city looked better before World War II, for sure, and certainly a century ago.

Since escaping Communism, Budapest has partially regained its glories, though not at the same pace as Prague. There’s a peculiar local fad called ruin pubs. In half wrecked buildings, hipsters drink and dance. Too creaky to boogie, I only glimpsed them from the outside, but these adult playgrounds didn’t look half bad.

In eastern Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine, I'd seen similar ruination. Later, I would encounter more in Serbia and Albania. Intact Communist buildings were hideous enough. Aggressively male and rational, they allowed for no embellishment or grace, thus no beauty.

In subway concourses, there were many homeless sheltering all day. Though miserable enough, they were clean and didn't beg. Other aimless types loitered. Underground shops offered food, drinks, magazines and flowers. Some were owned by Chinese. At street level, there were gyro joints run by Greeks, Turks or just Hungarians.

Established in 1896, Budapest's metro is the second oldest on earth, after only London's, but that was steam powered. Take Line 1 to glory in the beauty and charm of a time long past. The world hasn't always been this ugly. According to the 2011 census, 7.3% of Budapest residents were foreign-born, but most were just Magyars arriving from Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.

Before World War II, the largest synagogue in Europe was in Budapest, with its 200,000 Jews. It's claimed half would be massacred by Germans and their local allies. Since gas chambers, six million gassed, human skin lampshades, Jew hair mattresses, babies used as machine gun target practices, a toddler torn in half with bare hands and blood gushing from the ground for days, etc., have all been proven as bullshit to anyone not insane, the world needs to comb through all claims about the phantasmagoric Final Solution. Jewish lies breed genocides.

As for Gypsies, estimates of their population in Hungary range from 3.1 to more than 10%. With a high birthrate, they're ever more visible. Many of the most famous Hungarians were not Magyar. Franz Liszt was German. Bela Bartok was half German and a quarter Serbian. Houdini, Robert Capa, Arthur Koestler and André Kertész were Jews.

As an Oriental, I'm tickled that Hungarians, Russians and even very blonde haired and blue eyed Finns have, at various times, been defined as not quite white. Wandering around Budapest, I found Hungarians white enough, with those betraying Turkic ancestry to be, if anything, particularly attractive.

Whatever their mix, Hungarians are more protective of their identity and nationhood than those further west, and this is generally true of Eastern Europeans. After half a century of Communism, they're sick of any globalist hokum.

Lately, Hungary has gotten much bad press thanks to Viktor Orban. Newsweek compared him to Mussolini, and John McCain described him as “a neo-fascist dictator getting in bed with Vladimir Putin.” If creepy McCain likes apple pies, it's probably wise to stop eating them.

After becoming prime minister in 1998, Orban had Hungary join NATO, so was seen as snugly in the Western camp, but since 2010, he has made bold moves against both Brussels and Washington.

Most lambasted is Orban's stance on the refugee/illegal immigrant crisis, but some of his other decisions are even more antagonistic towards Uncle Sam and Jews. Orban rejected the IMF’s austerity measures, increased Hungary’s oversight over its Central Bank, raised taxes for all banks and, in 2013, even kicked out the International Monetary Fund.

Orban’s moves against banksters have not been foregrounded by the Jewjewed press because they don't want anyone to learn from or, God forbid, emulate his actions.

In defiance of Washington's effort to isolate Russia, Orban agreed in 2014 to have South Stream go through Hungary. This Russian pipeline would also have crossed Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Slovenia and Austria. Though South Stream would have benefited all of Europe, Washington leaned on Bulgaria to have it scuttled.

DC has also strong-armed Poland to bypass cheap Russian gas in favor of distant Qatar's much more expensive product.

In 2011, Orban banned GMO crops from Hungary and destroyed 1,000 acres of corn planted with Monsanto seeds.

Stating the obvious, Orban has repeatedly stressed that sanctions against Russia hurt all European countries. Not only is Russia a huge market for Europe, but an irreplaceable source of cheap energy. Without this, homes freeze and factories shut down.

There are only 14.5 million Hungarians worldwide, with less than 10 million inside the country. After WWI, the vindictive Treaty of Trianon stripped Hungary of 71% of its land and 66% of its people. Not even Germany has been truncated so ruthlessly. By giving money or citizenship to all ethnic Hungarians, provided they still speak the language, Orban is reconstituting and reinvigorating his nation. This nationalist agenda has pitted Orban against Jews. Nakedly hypocritical, they only push globalism or multiculturalism on your nation. When it comes to Israel, they're more tribal and racist than anyone.

Orban has revoked tax-exemptions from all Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu and Baha’i organizations in Hungary. Alien Christian sects such as Opus Dei, Benedictine, Marist, Carmelite, Mormon, Jehovah’s Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, Episcopalian and Methodist must also pay. It's weird that three synagogues are still allowed to dodge taxes, but not everything can be done at once. Under Orban, the only churches to receive state recognition and support are those deemed traditional to Hungary.

Echoing Putin, Orban condemns NGOs as a fifth column. Though a young Orban received a four-month scholarship from George Soros to study at Oxford, he's fingering the Budapest-born Jew as a dangerous meddler, and not just in Hungary, but all of Europe. In the USA, too, we must add.

In speeches and interviews, Orban explains himself quite clearly. To Die Weltwoche, Orban said in 2015, “There are terms and concepts which for a long time could not be uttered, but which are once again beginning to form part of public discourse. For example, ‘borders’—are they good or bad? We can once again say that they have their good sides. Or ‘nation’: this word can once again be used in a positive sense. 'Christianity': most European leaders--including myself--are advised not to use this word too frequently, because most Europeans no longer feel Christian. Now, however, this word is once again returning to political debates. Or ‘pride,’ as in ‘the pride of a nation’: once again it has become a legitimate expression. A positive consequence of the migration crisis is that once again we are attempting to talk openly about our continent’s identity—more freely than in the past two decades.”

In an insane world, you can't even state the obvious without sounding apologetic. Borders and nations don't just have good sides, but are essential to survival. Just as a house without walls is no house at all, no nation can exist without borders. Still, Orban's measure tone is enough to drive "progressives" apeshit.

Allowing men to use women's bathrooms is another way to violate borders. That would come later. Once inside the most vulnerable of female spaces, they can violate girls and women.

Leftist dogmatism is a progression away from nature and common sense, towards increasingly violent abstractions. Words and concepts trump evidence, so a preferred pronoun can erase a ragingly erect cock, and illegal immigrants are no more than undocumented workers or migrants.

An elected leader, Orban should only follow his people's wishes, but in doing so, he's relentlessly attacked by the American empire, the European Union and globalist Jews. With citizens ignored and their leaders impotent, Europe has become a democracy-free zone, with even free speech severely curtailed. Orban, then, is an anomaly. Here he speaks of aliens as an existential threat:

For months it was regarded as a humanitarian issue, then as a technical problem as to where the refugees should be settled and how they should be distributed. No one raised the question of whether the essence of the matter is more about our existence, our cultural identity and our way of life. I do not know for certain what is actually happening, and I do not want to blame anyone; but the suspicion arises that none of this is happening by chance. I am not brave enough to publicly talk about this as a certainty; the suspicion inevitably emerges, however, that there is some kind of master plan behind this.

Isn't it ironic that I, an immigrant who spent three decades in the US, with several more years in Europe, am endorsing nativism? Not really. Whites deformed and bombed my native land, with Uncle Sam bolting after he's made his bundle, then love to China. Or consider the Hmongs. If the US hadn't gotten them to fight Vietnamese, they wouldn't have bounced all the way to California, Montana and Minnesota. Some slaves will end up in the massa's house or even bed. From birth, I was entangled in Uncle Sam's net. Full spectrum dominance is his term.

It's only ironic that I'm more of a patriot than many Americans! Instead of colluding or voting for those harming the country, I openly speak out against them. Andy Ngo, too, is not afraid to expose himself. He's been beaten up even. The only man left in America is a gay Vietnamese! Bradley Manning has transitioned. At least he had balls.

The cabal that have subverted or ruined nations in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe are doing the same to the USA. Cowed, confused and diluted populations are easier to rule and rob. Is there a way out? Orban sees the world as having changed radically since the 2008 financial crisis. He’s prepping Hungary for life beyond the collapse of both Washington and the EU.

Meanwhile, he's still straddling Uncle Sam. After sending 80 T-72 tanks to Ukraine in 2014, for just $8,500 a piece, Hungary got much better replacements from DC. Perhaps these will be used to retake the TransCarpathian as Ukraine weakens even further.

There's also deviousness in Orban's statement about refugees, “We didn't destroy the countries from which migrants are coming. We didn't bomb anyone. We didn't invite anyone here. And now those who dropped the bombs and sent out invitations want to settle them here. Is this fair?” Under Orban, Hungary did contribute hundreds of soldiers to the American wars against Afghanistan and Iraq!

A little guy, Orban can't challenge the biggest bully completely, lest he be ditched in a coup or color revolution. The list of foreign leaders eliminated by Uncle Sam is long. Instead of harping on his concessions or inconsistencies, we should be inspired by Orban's nationalism. Even Putin can appear compromised, but his statements, like Orban's, are clearly an alternative to what's being pushed by Uncle Sam and Jews. Here's Putin in 2013:

Today, many nations are revising their moral values and ethical norms, eroding ethnic traditions and differences between peoples and cultures. Society is now required not only to recognize everyone’s right to the freedom of consciousness, political views and privacy, but also to accept without question the equality of good and evil, strange as it seems, concepts that are opposite in meaning. This destruction of traditional values from above not only leads to negative consequences for society, but is also essentially anti-democratic, since it is carried out on the basis of abstract, speculative ideas, contrary to the will of the majority, which does not accept the changes occurring or the proposed revision of values.

We know that there are more and more people in the world who support our position on defending traditional values that have made up the spiritual and moral foundation of civilization in every nation for thousands of years: the values of traditional families, real human life, including religious life, not just material existence but also spirituality, the values of humanism and global diversity.

Of course, this is a conservative position. But speaking in the words of Nikolai Berdyaev, the point of conservatism is not that it prevents movement forward and upward, but that it prevents movement backward and downward, into chaotic darkness and a return to a primitive state.

In recent years, we have seen how attempts to push supposedly more progressive development models onto other nations actually resulted in regression, barbarity and extensive bloodshed. This happened in many Middle Eastern and North African countries. This dramatic situation unfolded in Syria.

Triggered by words like "tradition," "traditional" "conservative," "religious" or "values," all correct thinkers must conclude Putin is another Hitler intent on destroying the world! Raging against him, they hardly notice their self propelled descent into barbarity and madness, with much bloodshed to follow. Ideology blinds.

Postscript: After my too brief visit to Budapest in 2016, I haven't been able to return to Hungary. In September of 2020, I did managed to reach Subotica, a Hungarian city in Serbia. Its most beautiful buildings clearly belong to a culture on the other side of the border, but this is true of so many places across this earth. Although borders are often inexact or even unjust, they can't be eliminated or blurred without courting chaos. In 2024, this is exactly what's happening in the US, and by design, too, so Orban was entirely right.

The US Director of Homeland Security is Alejandro Mayorkas, a Jew, so the southern border is wide open to everyone, including drug smugglers, human traffickers and gang members. In 2023 alone, 27.8 illegal immigrants marched in.

Secretary of State is Antony Blinken, a Jew, so the US is sending billions to Israel as it openly commits genocide against Palestinians.

After illegal immigrants beat up cops in NYC, Manhattan's district attorney Alvin Bragg let them go without bail. Clownish Bragg was elected thanks to a million dollar donation from George Soros, a Jew, but as the New York Times is careful to point out, the two have never met or even texted each other.

Further, Soros is not the only large donor to Color of Change. Others include "members of the wealthy Pritzker family, the Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and the hip-hop group the Beastie Boys." Notice they're all Jews!

With Soros cash, Color of Change has also helped to elect Jewish Larry Krasner in Philadelphia. There, too, violent criminals are often released with small or no bail at all, so Philly, too, has become a lethal shithole.

Killing hundreds of thousands in the US alone, Jewjabs were administered under the guidance of Rochelle Wallensky, a Jew. Many are still dying under her successor, Mandy Cohen, another Jew. Millions more will perish. Making billions from this unprecedented carnage is Jewish Albert Bourla. Any concern over this genocide is censored by Jewish runYoutTube and Facebook. Every newspaper and TV station in Jewjacked America endorses it, still.

The destruction of Ukraine started with the US engineered Maidan Revolution of 2014, now rebranded the Revolution of Dignity! With millions of Ukrainian men needlessly butchered, Jewish clown Vladimir Zelensky started to draft women in 2022. He became president with money and careful orchestration from Jewish Ihor Kolomoisky. His American handler is Jewish Victoria Nuland. Gloating over this disaster, Jewish Tablet had this headline on 3/5/22, "Jewish Ukraine Fights Nazi Russia"!

Of course, there's a plan, but to notice the obvious is to "veer into antisemitic tropes," according to the New York Times.

In Europe, only Hungary and Serbia have a chance.

Give Us This Day Our Three Ounces of Spaghetti

As published at SubStack, 2/7/24:

[Philadelphia, 11/12/11]

My next Amazon self-published book is shaping up. Its working title is Stressed, Blighted and Circumscribed Lives. Below is another chapter. We’re in Philadelphia in June of 2013:

John is 46 but looks two decades younger, with not a single white hair or whisker. His grungy style is also an age retardant, he thinks. If all goes well, he’ll be one wrinkly, mottled and perhaps amputated Kurt Corbain inside his cardboard coffin.

His mom was a registered nurse, then secretary at a garage. His dad sold car parts and, in the evening, drove a mail truck from Philly to Harrisburg. “I’m not doing as well as my parents, but I’m not trying as hard either,” John confided as we sat in McGlinchey’s. This late afternoon, it’s still quiet. Only intermittently were we interrupted by a jukebox regurgitating tiresome tunes. On four televisions, golf balls sailed or skated around cups.

I had come in after recording a segment for Press TV at a nearby studio. Seeing me in suit and tie, the bar owner, Shelley, grinned, “Coming from church?”

On Iranian television, I had assumed a grave, knowing face to talk about how China will try to muscle the US away from the Western Pacific, and of its scheme to supplant the US dollar, first by trading with nations in their own currencies, then by having a gold-backed Yuan.

I pointed out how China is intertwining itself with Europe via increasing rail links and commerce. Already, freights can travel by land from Holland or Belgium to the Middle Kingdom. Unlike America, China has a long term economic vision. Losing his bite, Uncle Sam won’t growl much longer.

Underemployed and malnourished, John is a pioneer of sort in this deep dive towards destitution. His survival strategies may serve you well as inspiration and tips.

Three days a week, John scrubs and mops at this lowlife bar. Twice a day, he also goes to Shelley’s house to walk the dog. At his massa’s residence, John can relax a bit on an actual couch to stare at a TV with more than two channels.

“Yo, John, how much do you make a week?”

“Ah, I don’t want to tell you, but most of what I make goes towards rent.”

“I can’t see how you make enough to eat!”

“I don’t eat that much. I drink beer, and I get my beer here for free. This is also food, you know.”

“How much do they give you?”

 “Two pints.”

“Two pints! That’s not enough! How can you stop at two pints? Once I’ve had two pints, I must drink more. Why won’t they give you four pints, at least?”

“Maybe you can say something to Shelley about that. You can be my lawyer!”

“Yeah, I’ll say something to Shelley. Cheap motherfucker! But you haven’t explained how you manage to eat on almost no money? How do you eat?!”

“I already told you, man, I don’t eat that much. I haven’t eaten in days! Actually, yesterday, I had three ounces of spaghetti.”

“You count your ounces?!”

“I know because on the package, it said six ounces.”

“Frozen shit?”

“No, man, I don’t even have a fridge. It’s this moist, microwavable shit.”

“OK, OK, but how do you stop eating at three ounces? Why didn’t you eat the whole damn thing if you were that hungry?”

“I don’t need to eat that much. Look at your beer. Can you knock that down in one shot?”

“Yeah, sure.”

“But I can’t do that. My stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it. I don’t need to eat or drink that much. Some weeks, I only spend five bucks on food.”

“That’s ridiculous! What do you buy for five bucks?”

“You can always buy rice. Rice is cheap.”

“You’re right, rice is cheap, especially when you buy a huge bag, but do you ever shoplift, you know, like shove a can of tuna down your pants?”

“No, I have never done that.”

Writing about someone, I must make sure to get everything right, but with John, I need not fret as much, because he doesn’t know how to use a computer. A man who can barely eat is not going to pay for wifi. There, too, John’s ahead of the curve.

In 2014, how can any American under 50 living in a major city not know how to use a computer? Even cave dwelling hermits spend at least 16 hours a day staring at internet porn.

“What’s up with you, John?”

“Ah, man, I just can’t figure it out, but I don’t miss it. Who cares. I don’t have any tattoos either,” and he showed me his untinted arms. Nodding towards a waitress sitting nearby, bent over her laptop, John continued, “Once she spent twenty minutes trying to teach me the computer, but I couldn’t figure it out.”

“She can’t get off the computer, and you can’t get on!”

After his two pint allotment, John slunk out of the bar. From Shelley, I found out he lives at the Parker Spruce, a residential hellhole that charges $250 a week, plus an extra 10 bucks for a microwave. A crappy TV would have cost $10 more. His bathroom, he shares with another tenant.

Just to visit a Parker Spruce resident, you must pay six bucks at the desk, though condoms are free, courtesy of the city’s health department. After a ride in the musty elevator, you enter a moldy hallway redolent of urine and Clorox. Taking the stairs, you might step over a dime bag or two. Whole families take refuge here, not just hurting singles, drug addicts and whores. A McGlinchey’s bartender, Bernadette, lived here for seven years. Though pets are banned, you can hear a caged canary as you walk past this door, for example, and inside this cell is a black cat.

At the end of each hallway, windows have bars to prevent jumpers from diving, permanently, into their final hell. Don’t lose heart, though. If you go straight to the roof of this 12-story building, where the view is indeed spectacular and the air fresh, nothing will stop you from flying for a second or two before splashing onto the adjacent row house’s tar roof, which must be fixed every few years, after yet another corpse is removed.

Before Shelley hired John as dogwalker, he employed Casey. She also dwelled at the Parker Spruce. In her dresser were bread, peanut butter, jam and pop tarts. In winters, cans of Bud Ice could be kept cool in a plastic bag hanging out her window.

“So you trust John, huh?” I asked Shelley. “He doesn’t steal like Casey?”

“You know about that too!” Shelley smiled. “Casey only stole small things from me. I went to her place once and saw all these little things that looked very familiar, like salt and pepper shakers I used to own. Everywhere I looked, there were little things I used to own.”

“Yeah, and she stole from me! I was talking to Casey at Frank’s one night. It was her birthday, so I bought her a couple of beers, but when I went to the bathroom, she stole one of my camera lenses. It’s very expensive, you know, more than 500 bucks, but then Casey returned it, because she felt bad, I guess. When I called Frank’s the next day, Sheila said, ‘Hey, we found your camera lens!’ I knew it had to be Casey because I never took the lens out of my bag.”

“It was Casey.”

It’s not too bad yet. Most sidewalk sleepers aren’t violently stripped of shoes, belt, jacket or a reasonably nice pair of jeans. In Berkeley, I did meet a white haired man who had been robbed by another homeless four times. His coat and shoes, he managed to recover in nearby trash cans, “but the photos of my wife and children are gone.” As we talked, a young woman gave him some leftover from a restaurant meal. “But I can’t eat it,” he lamented, “I don’t have any teeth.”

“You can eat it,” she smiled. “It’s only rice.”

Without fork or spoon, he had to scoop the brown rice with the carry out container’s plastic top.

I never hinted to Casey I knew she had stolen from me, but after that incidence, I kept my distance. Adopted, Casey has never been able to find her Puerto Rican birth mother. On each of her sneakers is scrawled “ESPERANZA.” Casey has worked as a cook and waitress, including at McGlinchey’s. Last time I saw her, Casey announced she was getting married, so I waved at her bride, a mirthful, squeezable lady standing across Broad Street. They had found an apartment in Point Breeze. Idyllic sounding, it’s another Philly free fire zone, though slowly gentrifying. It did spawn the Heath Brothers.

Seeing me chatting with Casey once, some bald, middle-aged dude advised, “You shouldn’t talk to her. She’s ugly. You make yourself look bad by talking to such an ugly woman.”

That hideous bit I actually expanded into a monologue, played by a fine actor, for WHYY TV. Anyway, this guy looked like shit himself. Ugly and uglier, we’ll slog forward.

The current waitress at McGlinchey’s is only 23 and genuinely pretty, so why not meet her?

“I never went to college, because I don’t like school, and I also can’t afford it.”

“But you said you’re into languages?”

“Yeah, I studied French for five years, and the other day, when I met some French students, I could speak to them, maybe because I was drunk,” she grinned, “and I can pronounce Russian words. I read Camus’ The Stranger five times in English, but when I finally read it in French, it was so much better.”

“You read it in French from beginning to end?”

“Almost.”

She also knows scraps of Sanskrit and Japanese, which have proven useful at SugarHouse, Philly’s very first casino. Playing roulette, she has won up to $100 while chanting “sa ta na ma.” She thought it meant, “all one none sum,” though it’s actually, “birth, life, death, rebirth.” Sometimes she mumbled “nam myoho renge kyo.” On full moons, people win more at casinos, she said. Perhaps this Pisces should also use a Magic Marker to scrawl “HOPE” onto her sneakers.

For the trapped, mapless or clueless, magic incantations are as good as any. Give us this day our three ounces, at least, and lead us not onto the no-fly list, not that we can afford even a Greyhound ticket.

In 2010, I witnessed a religious procession at San Francisco’s Civic Center. Mostly Filipinos, they carried this banner, “Praying the Rosary for America… As human efforts fail to solve America’s key problems, we turn to God, through His Holy Mother, asking for His urgent help.”

Meaning Is Local

As published at SubStack, 5/11/23:

[L’ancien café in Pakse, 5/10/23

Yesterday, I paid for ten more days at Lankham Hotel, so that’s 30 days in Pakse, at least. Next week, I’ll get my second visa extension. If a country doesn’t control its borders, the concept is meaningless.

Since the 27 Schengen countries ignore their mutual borders, the autonomy and integrity of each are weakened. If a boat person reaches Lampedusa, an island just off Africa, he’ll be taken to mainland Italy. From there, he can work his way into France and Austria, then Spain or Germany, etc.

In just two months, Cyprus will join Schengen. Anticipating this, rich Vietnamese have established residency in Cyprus.

Content, I ain’t dreaming about going nowhere. (If I was still an author at Seven Stories Press, some ditzy copy editor, working for chickpeas just to get a toehold in Manhattan, would try to clean up my Philly grammar. Though Black Lives Mattered to the max, she ain’t never had ghetto gaw mien or parked her pretty pink ass in some ear drum blasting lounge, where you must be frisked pornographically to enter.)

There are no major attractions in Pakse. Its oldest temple dates only to the mid 19th century. In this part of the world, that’s, like, five minutes ago. I don’t visit foreign places to gawk at anything spectacular, though. Always seeking the most ordinary, I’m grateful and happy when allowed to mingle. It was sweet when the lady at Coffee Saigon said, “Where did you go? You haven’t been around?”

How she said it, though, was also interesting, “Đi mô?” instead of “Đi đâu?” That’s how people in Huế say, “Where did you go?” So what, you mumble, but the more you can read into anything, the more fascinating each second of your life.

This morning, for example, I had bánh cuốn, which the French call ravioli vietnamien. Although rice noodle rolls can be found all over East Asia, each version is radically different. Distinctive populations do everything differently. Even within the same country, variations abound. A cheesesteak in Wilmington, so close to South Philly, is already suspect, if not blasphemous, but only to South Philly assholes, me included.

The skin of bánh cuốn should be super thin and nearly translucent, to reveal the ground pork and Judas’ or Jew’s ear, finely chopped, inside. Of such skin, Vũ Bằng (1913-1984) waxes:

Regrettably, such deliciousness is as elusive as that of the skin and flesh of a beautiful woman who has just shampooed with coriander-scented water; disoriented one asks oneself does that fragrance come from the bath water or skin and flesh? So fleeting that fragrance, then it’s lost, only to reappear, so no one knows which framework to use to arrest such a fragrance, to break it down.

Written in 1952, it’s from the 3,156-word chapter on bánh cuốn, in Vũ Bằng’s Hanoi Delicacies [Miếng ngon Hà Nội]. In it, he immortalizes a very old hunchbacked itinerant seller of bánh cuốn, which she carried in a bamboo basket on her head. This made the tiny woman even more hunchbacked. That bánh cuốn load was her cross. Imperiously, she would prevent customers from sprinkling too much crushed chili pepper into the dipping sauce, for it would kill the taste of her sublime creations.

[bánh cuốn in Pakse, 5/10/23]

Though each of us deserves a biography of at least a thousand pages, even the briefest sketch or glancing mention can be fascinating, provided it’s deftly drawn and, more importantly, the reader isn’t a misanthrope or pitifully incurious.

Traveling is a privilege. It’s remarkable that Shakespeare never left England and Whitman only made it to Canada, once. Though we now have even teenagers globetrotting alone, this brief anomaly is already winding down. The vast majority still have no meaningful experiences of any alien culture. Still, many think they have a general grasp of just about any place, thanks to movies, TV, YouTube and TikTok. It’s a gross illusion.

A week ago, “catdompa” strayed into my SubStack to bitch. Though America has introduced me to air conditioning and refrigerators, I wasn’t being grateful enough, he said. Very presumptuous, this Unzian. Worse, I even dared to insult Angry White Pussies like him while writing about “eating rotten food in some third world country.” Though it’s clear his notions of Vietnam were entirely based on movies like Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter and Rambo, with Vietnam just a vast jungle teeming with savages, I still tried to engage this man. Predictably, it was a total waste of time.

Nations rise and fall. At their peak from the 11th to the 13th century, the Khmers built the miraculous Angkor Wat. Now, they’re inferior to Thais and Vietnamese. Artistically, Vietnamese may have peaked 2,500 years ago, with their bronze drums. The stone jars in northern Laos are so inexplicable, giants must have carved them, some believe.

Today, Laos is one of the poorest and weakest nations in Asia, but Laos haven’t lost their distinctiveness. Quietly proud, they maintain their traditions. Each morning, they kneel on roads to give food to monks. Restored or newly built, their temples are in great shape.

In the UK, churches have been converted into cafes or bookstores, or left empty. In the US, thousands of churches crumble because those who built them have fled, due to black crime. In Philadelphia, traditionally Irish Kensington and Greys Ferry have turned into hellscapes for the same reason, as has Polish Port Richmond.

To see where America’s going, just look at Philly, Chicago, St Louis, New Orleans or even Minneapolis. A UPenn student has just been raped by a black man. A black female cop in Chicago has just been murdered by four blacks. These are no aberrations, but fine, you can deny there’s a pattern.

Fox 32 Chicago, “The offenders are teens, 19-year-old Trevell Breeland, 19-year-old Joseph Brooks, 18-year-old Jakwon Buchanan and a 16-year-old male. Police say at least two of them shot at Officer Areanah Preston when she was returning home from work at 1:42AM Saturday. Police say the four offenders were traveling in a stolen red Kia, and they were looking for people to victimize. They allegedly committed multiple crimes before ambushing officer Preston.”

I doubt if any of them grew up with a father.

Just over a year ago, I spent five months in Namibia. There, I read about one Muyawi Matiro, who said, “I have a lot of children, about 76, with 17 women, and they have given me 202 grandchildren.” Notice the “about.” If he’s not even sure how many kids he has, he’s certainly not being a father to most, if any, of them. Just like in American ghettos, many black Africans breed without raising their children. This is not anyone’s opinion, but a fact.

In Namibia, I also met a married Angolan who went on about how gigantic his prick was. With such an advantage, he could bag so many Namibian chicks. All over Windhoek, there were fliers promising to enlarge your penis, and to make erections last longer. I saw no signs offering tutoring in math, chemistry or physics. You’ll have to go to Vietnam for that. Everyone does everything differently.

It’s not my business, though, to judge any society, so if Namibia is OK with a man having 76 kids with 17 women, and the USA only upset over any white on black murder, no matter how justified, with countless black on white murders and rapes just, you know, a part of life, then don’t change! Keep it going, you’re doing great!

It’s been so hot here, it’s hard to walk even a mile, but yesterday was cooler, so I wandered to L’ancien café, a stylish joint with live music at 8:30PM each night. TVs and radios from at least half a century ago were displayed in a glass case. There was an old neon sign, lit up, on a wall, and a map of the world in bare bricks, as chiseled from plaster. With taste rather than money, its decor impressed.

Thai rock was blaring. Though I listen to almost no recorded music for pleasure, I do pay attention to pop tunes for clues to what’s going on. Consider, for example, “Playful Irreverence” [“เล่นของสูง”] from the Thai band, BIGASS.

In the video, a young man rescues his girlfriend from a suffocating home, where she’s forced by her Hitler lookalike father to practice on the piano. This psycho even shoots at them as they flee in a vintage car. Pursuing them in a jeep with two goons, Thai Hitler gives the Nazi salute. They get away.

Having escaped, all they do is dress in the lamest punk clothing, dance goofily on a carnival stage, nearly touch hands while sitting on the car hood then enter a church where they have a symbolic wedding. At the end, all is well as Thai Hitler accepts boyfriend. There’s no kissing or any suggestion of sex.

Compare this to the South African Die Antwoord’s “Banana Brain,” where the girl escapes by dumping dozens of sleeping pills into her parents’ tea, surely enough to kill them if this was real. Delivering her poison, she walks past a crucifix on the stairs. Waiting in bed, her mother is embroidering, “Jesus is die Antwoord,” a blasphemous joke, since the band’s name is Afrikaans for “the answer.” A large cross hangs on the wall between her parents’ beds.

Unlike in the Thai video, oppression is not signified by Hitler but Christianity.

Free, she dolls up then escapes with her well tatted boyfriend in a funky car with a lit up crucifix dangling upside down from the rearview mirror. Arriving at a rowdy party, the boyfriend gets out to reveal he’s on prosthetic legs, a sick allusion to Oscar Pistorius, the South African Special Olympian who murdered his girlfriend.

Boyfriend sings:

Juicy, tushy, gushy, goo
Boobie one, boobie two
Bouncing like a Looney Tune
Booty booming, cookie juice
Gushing out your coochie, boo

When he’s momentarily distracted, she’s dragged away by a gorgeous woman. Entering a red lit room, they make out, but only after the lesbian seducer sticks out her tongue to show a tab of acid with an image of a peeled banana. Kissing her would be like fellatio, and sexual orientation can be switched instantly.

Reunited with her boyfriend, the girl undresses to show an upside down cross on her underwear, over her butt crack. As they’re about to get really real, she freaks out, runs into the bathroom and locks herself inside. This is a clear reference to Pistorius, who shot his girlfriend through his bathroom door.

Before making it as Die Antwoord, Ninja and Yolandi were much better as Max Normal. Fame hasn’t just corrupted them but introduced the Satanic into their music. In nearly every field, it’s the price you pay to succeed in America. Whether as a politician, lawyer, doctor, journalist or professor, you sell your soul.

Thankfully, BIGASS is still relatively innocent, and that’s a tribute to their society. Life is still sane in Southeast Asia.

Writing this, I haven’t eaten lunch, and it’s already 4:15PM, so I’m going to stop. Tonight, there’s a huge soccer match between Vietnam and Thailand. To the rest of the world, it’s nothing. Here in Pakse, it’s a very big deal, so I’ll go to Coffee Saigon to watch, but not before having a pasta dinner at Dok Mai Lao Trattoria Italiana.

Despite all their efforts, what’s most meaningful is fixed to a very specific place and time. Like just about everything else, Vũ Bằng’s prose was never meant for outsiders. Globalism is a charade and con. Meaning is local.

Judicial Watch releases bombshell documents exposing deep state’s involvement with media in the biggest propaganda campaign in history

 Leo Hohmann, 10/5/22

‘It seems as if the entire entertainment industry was an agent for the government’

If you felt pressure to “get vaccinated” and now regret it, don’t feel bad.

If you never saw the need to get “vaccinated,” or if you, like myself, felt an overwhelming sense that you would never get vaccinated no matter what new incentive or high-pressure tactic the globalist predators rolled out, then congratulate yourself.

Because now, thanks to reams of new information obtained by the public-interest group Judicial Watch, we know that those who resisted the vaxx resisted the biggest, most expensive, most comprehensive global propaganda campaign in world history. I can’t imagine what would even come in as a close second in terms of the scope of this operation. This was a technocratic full-court press.

Judicial Watch announced in an October 4 press release that it has received 249 pages of records from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services detailing the extensive media plans for a propaganda campaign to push the COVID-19 vaccine.

The records were received in response to an August 2021 Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed after HHS failed to respond to an April 19, 2021, request for records related to the Biden HHS’s “COVID-19 Community Corps” and “trusted messenger” program (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services No. 1:22-cv-02315).

Judicial Watch asked for all records pertaining to the application process; all organizations asking to be chosen to participate; all grants; and all communications of representatives of HHS regarding the program.

What they uncovered was astonishing.

“These records show a disturbing and massive campaign by the Biden administration to propagandize and politicize the controversial COVID vaccine,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It seems as if the entire entertainment industry was an agent for the government!”

The newly released records include a document titled “PEC [Public Education Campaign] Plan,” which includes the following media plans and action items under the so-called Major [Public Education] Projects starting in April 2021 and continuing through the end of May:

  • Vaccine engagement package to all entertainment talent and management agencies
  • Vaccine engagement package to all media companies and show producers
  • Outreach to major culture event producers
  • Outreach with WCDT [likely We Can Do This] brand and engagement ideas to major businesses and associations
  • Launch Community Corps Business Chapter
  • Start celebrity Share the Mics
  • Late night hosts vaccination video (POTUS)

Additional Ideas to be Considered

Digital Media

  • Produce HHS question-and-answer videos featuring local Black doctors discussing the vaccines, how they work, and why the public should get vaccinated
  • Request that Tom Brady create a video with his parents encouraging vaccination (his parents had COVID last year and he has talked about their tough recovery).
  • Create custom partnerships with the social media platforms with algorithms to hit the audience.
  • Launch Hollywood comedy writers video content.

***

  • Work with YouTube on an original special about vaccinations targeted to young people (similar to the YouTube’s Dear Call of 2020 special).
  • Work with Instagram to produce a series about vaccines for @Instagram (the largest social media account in the world, 387 million followers). Feature young creators doing in-depth pieces about young people’s questions. Request a Stories Highlight on Vaccines on @Instagram to stay on the account through 2021.
  • Request major TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram influencers to create videos of themselves being vaccinated and start a special campaign of funny and/or musical videos about being vaccinated to encourage others to create content and post.

Earned Media

  • Request a vaccination special on Christian Broadcasting Network featuring Evangelical leaders.
  • Request that the major live TV entertainment shows feature hosts being vaccinated on air (ex: the hosts of The Voice).
  • Request that the TV morning and daytime talk shows feature special vaccination reunion moments with everyday Americans talking about what this means to them (ex: hugging grandma for the first time).
  • Convene an editorial meeting with the publishers of Catholic newspapers and newsletters across the country (ex: America Magazine, Florida Catholic, The Catholic Spirit, The Tablet).
  • Dr. Jill Biden interview with Chip and Joanna Gaines for Magnolia.
  • Request vaccination specials with BET, The Undefeated, Desus & Mero, Sneaker Shopper, Hot Ones.
  • Request a vaccination special with Christian Broadcasting, Netflix and Evangelical leaders.
  • Place a trusted messenger on the Joe Rogan Show and Barstool Sports to promote vaccination (work with outside expert to identify who will be most effective).

The documents uncovered partnerships with all manner of sports leagues and media networks:

  • Work with the NFL, NASCAR, MLB, CMA to request they create content with their talent and release through their broadcast and social channels.  Also create a Share the Mic program where the talent elevates public health voices.
  • Work with all major sports leagues to send vaccination information to ticket holders.
  • Work with ESPN for hosts to provide vaccination information.
  • Partner with Disneyland Parks for vaccination events when the amusement parks reopen.
  • Work with the Hollywood guilds to work vaccination messaging into scripted and reality TV shows (ex: Writers Guild, Directors Guild.)

These documents confirm everything we have reported at LeoHohmann.com dating back to 2020 about Covid being a psychological operation whose end goal was to inject every man, woman and child with an experimental mRNA gene-therapy treatment, the full effects of which will not be known for years afterward in terms of loss of life and human health.

On a more immediate level, the reason for the unprecedented push had nothing to do with health and everything to do with using the fear mongering over a “virus” to get people to accept intrusive and invasive new tracking apps. Digital health passports on people’s phones showing their vaccine status could not have been imagined pre-Covid. Now, it’s a thing, and we should expect another big push to implement these techno-tracking devices after the next big crisis, at which time it will be mated with the impending new digital monetary system.

The incessant pressure to “get vaccinated” coming through all institutional and cultural channels was not a surprise to our readers. Why? Because we reported in April 2020 how the globalists had met on October 19, 2019, two months before anyone had heard of Covid-19, and planned it all out in a tabletop exercise called Event 201. The CIA, the CDC, the major media/social media, the Gates Foundation and the Chinese CDC all had representatives there at Event 201 in New York City.

The CIA’s representative at Event 201 was Avril Haines, a deep-state operative from way back who went on to become Joe Biden’s director of national intelligence, a position she holds to this day. Participants at Event 201 engaged in discussions about the need to recruit “trusted” messengers, such as religious and business leaders, to pitch vaccines at the community level.

Biden Quoting Viet Poetry, No More Oil and It's Good to Eat Beef

As published at SubStack, 7/24/22:

[2012 Democratic National Convention]

I very rarely watch TV, but while living in Norwich, England in 2005, I turned on my telly for Harold Pinter’s Nobel speech. This bit has always stayed with me:

I put to you that the United States is without doubt the greatest show on the road. Brutal, indifferent, scornful and ruthless it may be but it is also very clever. As a salesman it is out on its own and its most saleable commodity is self-love. It’s a winner. Listen to all American presidents on television say the words, ‘the American people,’ as in the sentence, ‘I say to the American people it is time to pray and to defend the rights of the American people and I ask the American people to trust their president in the action he is about to take on behalf of the American people.’

Whatever his personal style, each American president is entrusted to dump bullshit not just on the American people, but the world. Delivering lie after lie with just the right facial expression, body language and tone, with never a sarcastic or mischievous glint in his eyes, he’s a first-rate actor, but you can’t rise that high without perfecting your craft. Obama was excellent in this regard, but Clinton, Trump and even Bush were very good, too. Each was chosen for his character, and if you think you had any part in these selections, you must hurry to get your fifth booster shot!

Why, then, do we have Joe Biden, who routinely flubs his lines, when not farting in front of royalty or shaking hands with nothing? Under his watch, the greatest show on earth has become a tawdry, bush league circus without even a three-legged lady to amuse us a little. As a horror attraction, Kamala Harris is simply boring. Couldn’t they have trotted out a much more appealing couple? The repulsiveness of this tag team is the whole point, however, for they want idiots to think the country’s fortune could be reversed if these clowns were removed.

Before Biden as zombie was deployed, he was even tasked with sounding literate. Welcoming the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyễn Phú Trọng, to Washington in July of 2015, Biden quoted from Nguyễn Du’s “Tale of Kiều,” an 1820 poem of 3,254 lines.

Biden, “Thank heaven we are here today. To see the sun through parting fog and clouds” [“Trời còn để có hôm nay / Tan sương đầu ngõ vén mây giữa trời”]. I would translate these as, “Providence has left us this day / When mist melts below, clouds part above.” In any case, someone plucked out lines 3021 and 3022 so Biden could impress a Vietnamese audience. Most Americans wouldn’t recognize a quotation from Whitman, much less Nguyễn Du. The US and Vietnam were ready for a new partnership, Biden meant.

I hope you don’t think Biden could handle any poetry beyond the shortest Ogden Nash, “Why did the Lord give us agility, / If not to evade responsibility?”

In 2000, Clinton already quoted Nguyễn Du while visiting Hanoi, “Just as the lotus wilts, the mums bloom forth / Time softens grief, and the winter turns to spring” [lines 1795-6]. Since those words are spoken by Thúc Sinh, a skirt chasing adulterer with one nasty wife, this citation by Monica Lewinsky’s boyfriend had Vietnamese snickering. Someone at State Department must have had a good laugh at burger clown Bill’s expense.

Visiting Hanoi in 2015, Obama continued this tradition, “I hope you think back to this moment and draw hope from the vision that I’ve offered today. Or, if I can say it another way—in words that you know well from the Tale of Kieu—‘Please take from me this token of trust, so we can embark upon our 100-year journey together [lines 355-6].’”

Between jiving, schmoozing and charming, US presidents do slip in key messages, or instructions, if you will, so here’s Clinton speaking in Vietnam on 11/17/20:

Today the United States and Vietnam open a new chapter in our relationship, at a time when people all across the world trade more, travel more, know more about and talk more with each other than ever before. Even as people take pride in their national independence, we know we are becoming more and more interdependent. The movement of people, money, and ideas across borders, frankly, breeds suspicion among many good people in every country. They are worried about globalization because of its unsettling and unpredictable consequences.

Yet, globalization is not something we can hold off or turn off. It is the economic equivalent of a force of nature, like wind or water. We can harness wind to fill a sail. We can use water to generate energy. We can work hard to protect people and property from storms and floods. But there is no point in denying the existence of wind or water, or trying to make them go away. The same is true for globalization. We can work to maximize its benefits and minimize its risks, but we cannot ignore it, and it is not going away.

So there you have it, globalization is a force of nature that can’t be resisted. Moreover, it shouldn’t be resisted, since it’s the salvation of mankind, just as Communism was once trumpeted.

Nationalism is not just reactionary or Fascistic, but dangerously so, for it leaves each population helpless in front of problems only globalism can solve. In Covid-19: The Great Reset, Klaus Schwab explains:

In a nutshell, global governance is at the nexus of all these other issues. Therefore, the concern is that, without appropriate global governance, we will become paralysed in our attempts to address and respond to global challenges, particularly when there is such a strong dissonance between short-term, domestic imperatives and long-term, global challenges. This is a major worry, considering that today there is no “committee to save the world.”

Get that? Without “appropriate global governance, we will become paralysed,” so we need “a committee to save the world,” but from what, you ask?

From media-hyped pandemics, oil, natural gas, bloody red meat, white breasts, dark thighs, procreation, hugging, smiling, debating in a civilized manner, probing official lies, being left alone to mind our own damn business, getting rowdy in a pub, travel, longevity or just breathing, etc. We need creeps like Schwab, Soros, Gates and Yuval Noah Harari to show us how to reach net zero, basically by snuffing ourselves out, to make room for self-chosen ones.

To facilitate this earth-saving task, there are Albert “Remember the Holocaust” Bourla’s serial jewjabs.

Injected, you can follow the example of Mali, 22-years-old, who used her car to block traffic to the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, to protest “climate destruction.” I’m assuming Mali didn’t just get her sleek wheels for this “no more oil” statement, so she’ll keep motoring.

Mali did stop thousands of cars from moving, so there was marginally less pollution during her trigger event or mini putsch. Grilled by the press afterwards, no one mentioned climate engineering, so the greatest cause of climate destruction was, as always, not addressed. Like Biden, Trump, Chomsky, Goodman or Unz, Mali distracts.

It’s nearly 11AM in Vũng Tàu, so I’ll stop here to head down to the beef place for a nice lunch, plus a Tiger beer or two. I’ll also order some french fries, which Vietnamese like to eat with margarine and sugar. “Just give me some salt,” I’ll have to ask again, since all those double-jabbed waiters can’t remember squat.

Nice kids, they all live above the restaurant, and just had their two-day yearly vacation, as paid by their boss. Though they only spent one night at a guest house, some packed suitcases as if they were going away for a week.

At the end of each long shift, they sit at a long table to enjoy their own beef dinner. Beef is good, and so is sitting together to talk and laugh.
