Homeless for two years, Liza turned 21 two weeks ago. Born in Russia, she was adopted, along with a younger sister, and brought to Cambridge, MA, when she was seven. Liza never got along with her adoptive mother, so was put on lithium when she was 11, then sent to a boarding school at 14. She was stuck in 9th grade for three years, so that was it for her education. She used to drink half a gallon of whiskey a day, and often passed out, but now seldom touches a drink. A year ago, she met her boyfriend, Harvey of South Carolina, at a Rainbow Gathering in Washington State. They then spent months at the San Francisco Occupy camp, before ending up in Philly, where they used to sleep outside Macy's. An outreach team has gotten them into a shelter, however, so now they can be inside from 7PM to 7AM. For Liza's 21st birthday, her adoptive mother, a very rich woman, sent her $20.

Hi Linh
For some reason ,so embedded in my pyschie , I'm taken back when I see a young white woman on the streets . In my head I can't compute how this happens.
Then again, this girl has a good back story . Looks like that Russian adoption ban has some merit to it .
