Poet Chuck Orloski emails me about his mother-in-law, "Carol's mother's name is Florence Laschinski, born in 1928, Wilkes Barre, PA, the city just south of Scranton. Settled in Greenwood, small town across Lackawanna River. "Flo" was a member on the (L.G.W.U.) Ladies Garment Worker's Union. As a reminder, at the industry's heyday, there were 168 garment factories, extending from Forest City to Pittston."
Mrs. Laschinski worked 49 years in various factories, and by the time she retired, there were only two garment factories in the area. Now there is none.
In the above image, she can be seen as a young woman in the farthest right.
