Like this picture, Linh! Our U.S. Senator Robert Casey wants to liberate little Afghanistan girls from Taliban oppression and have them look hot &menacing, employment ready.

Welcome home to the City of Brotherly love.

Casey could have hearings on who in the US government provided the seed money for the Taliban and ISIS.

"The first so-called Christian crusade was anything but holy, anything but benign.. What is happening now? The hour is already dreadful, and late, for self-examination of the unfolding, unholy nature of regular American response to Muslim men and women in various extremities of need or self-definition and affirmation."

Speaking of gender, don't miss these observations on transgenderism from a reader, Susan.

Ian: That's terrific insight for Robert Casey to ponder. Wish lots of Pennsylvanians read your words and dispense his hypocrisy. Am off on school bus run... thank you!

Chuck thanks for your kind words. The problem is that the seed funding of the Taliban, ISIS, and other organizations of that sort is standard, bipartisan operations and no legislatively highlighted Boland Amendments or arms embargoes are being broken, though the laws in these matters can be contorted any number of ways. The first president to fund the Taliban was Carter, Obama for ISIS. Of course McCain and his ilk argued to empty the treasury to see that the ISIS boys had everything they needed and then blamed Obama when they started using their resources to do what they do. Bob Casey is probably better than most Senators on most issues but I don't think he will instigate those sorts of hearings.

Ian: "Small potato," but shortly after W. Bush criminally invaded Afghanistan, I looked at a New York Times front page photograph which depicted heavily armed U.S. troops marching alongside an active poppy field, an enterprise which the Taliban (reportedly) had put out-of- business.

Also, you might have heard about Soviet historian Roy Medvedev? Back in mid-1980s, I read his book, and Medvedev talked about the U.S. official hogwash, which commonly asserted that Mujahideen were "Freedom Fighters." Roy insisted the Muj essentially fought for control of Afghanistan's ultra-lucrative international drug trade. (Sorry, Ian, to be lazy and failed to search for the title of R.M.'s book)

Agree on Senator Bob Casey; political orruption is relative, & there are much worse HANDS at the table, and dipping into Citizen United vs. F.E.C.'s blood-soaked bread.

As you know, Ian, whenever U.S. Congressmen show even teeny-weeny signs of becoming a an obstruction (threat) to the unspeakable "standard, bipartisan" Bombs Away (!) policy, they come under heavy fire. Nifty built-in cleansing system, eh?

Maybe I'm self-deluded, and despite V. Putin's putting-up Stop Sign to Empire advance in M.E., its rather confusing (for me) to watch how Obama avoided NOT instinctively bombing Syria & Iranian governments out of existence. A question, Ian. Am I wrong in thinking a G.O.P. President John McCain and Mitt Romney would have gotten The Big One on by now? Using my simple words in Deep Gulf Water, do titles "Democrat & Republican" really matter when it comes to actually implementing Banker driven foreign policies?

(Note: Trappist Monk Thomas Merton arrived at the cool term "Unspeakable." Merton wrote private letters to JFK's sister and expressed a low percentage of hope that her brother could stave off the desires of the M.I.C.)

Thank you very much for the time & history lesson, Ian.

Chuck I've been offline today and am rushed but you may know the book that jump started a generation of heroin research is Wisconsin prof Alfred McCoy's Politics of Heroin, a long one but one that shows where the bodies are buried. The heroin trade in Afghanistan is as you know extremely lucrative for people who arrive there looking for extra forms of income. What McCain would have done as president is truly scary, an observation that can be forgotten during his moments of personality. More later, Ian
