View from my window at 4:27AM. I opened it to hear the church bell at 4:30. Cocks crow and there's usually a very loud gecko, but he's silent this morning. Probably had too much to drink last night. Oh wait, I just heard him!
Hotel in distance is Fusion Suites, Vung Tau's best. It used to have these lights streaming down, like electric rain, all night long, but they've cut it out, undoubtedly because of rising cost.
In my building's lobby, the security guard sleeps on a cot. Usually, he opens the door at around 5:45AM, but I can open it myself, so I'll do that at maybe 5:30AM. Hitting the sidewalk, I always feel elated.

Hi Linh,
Hearing geckos, or seeing them on the wall, is a great sign that you're in an interesting/fun place. I have many fond gecko memories from Southeast Asia, especially ones from a certain restaurant's bathroom in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Sounds like you're at peace in a place you can call home, a home where you can walk the streets in the early morning darkness without worry. Yep, you sure ain't in Philly anymore.
