Or more probably "chinese-cambodian", the chinese have been associated with Cambodia for a long time, some of the early history of Cambodia was written down by Chinese. The Viets are a more recent interaction but, if you have an open mind about the histories of this "Indo-China" region I have been looking at this since the early 80's.
Yes, no argument there, and the Chinese have been in business in Vietnam for a long time also, It's the same Chinese names in both countries. The French gave the Vietnamese their written language, before that the literate classes wrote in Chinese characters. I have a friend here whose name is Ly Ly, pronounced Lee Lee and is of Chinese descent.

I know all that, Lyle, but Kim Ly is 100% a Vietnamese spelling, with Kim meaning metal or gold, and Ly is actually Lý, or Lee in English.
