and it was packed with Vietnamese. I saw no foreigners. At $18.85 for an all-you-can eat meal of mostly meat, it's a great deal, though pricey for Vietnam. Still, many Vietnamese can afford it. There are Gogi Houses all over. The last one I visited was in Lào Cai, right on the Chinese border.
Gogi House is owned by Golden Gate Group, a Vietnamese company headed by Đào Thế Vinh. Golden Gate also operates restaurant chains Cowboy Jack's and Vuvuzela Beer House. Several of their concepts have failed, however.
My main point is that Vietnamese who can afford it love to pig out, especially on meats, so they're not going to be sold on bugs, fake meats and bogus fruits. A traditional party offering is beef seven different ways, bò bảy món, so guests can go to beef heaven, while also downing plenty of beer or rice wine.
In the commercial below, a young couple go to Gogi House to break up, but change their minds thanks to the good eating, naturally.
